Kiev residents have an unusual option in this weekend’s mayoral election.
He goes by Darth Vader and wears the “Star Wars” villain’s black mask, cape, and armor. Representing the Internet Party, Vader met with reporters this week to discuss his candidacy. He promised “fish for everyone” and “anti-gravity tripods for journalists.”
Vader is not on the official ballet, however, after the election commission withdrew his candidacy citing problems with his documents. Kiev residents can still support him as a write-in candidate.
This is not the first time Vader has sought office in Ukraine. In March, the Internet Party announced his candidacy for the country’s presidential election. That bid was also rejected due to paperwork problems.
Another man dressed as Darth Vader is running for mayor of Odessa, UKraine. The elections are held on Sunday, May 25.
