Daryl Washington (1 Viewer)

Is it for sure over? I've been scanning for any news about this and can't find anything.

As far as picking him up, sure, if he's available. I've been sitting on him in two leagues waiting.

I never heard anything about the league tacking on games for his domestic, but I didn't hear he was definitely back next week, either.

Any Arizonans have an inside scoop?

Four game suspension over. Is anyone else picking him up?
He hasnt gone to court for the offenses, so he returns this week.

If for some reason hes available, pick him up.

Plenty of tackle opportunities to go around in AZ, but thats not what makes DWASH special. Dansby has no sacks this year, and only 3 TFLS, and hasnt had a significant total in years.

Im hopin Arians lets him loose, and from everything Ive read thus far, im expecting good things

like this:

“The thing he obviously brings is great speed and the ability to play tight ends and backs man-to-man more,” Arians said. “He’s a devastating blitzer, so he’s going to bring a bunch more to the table.”

yeah, I just read an arians quote about him being such a great blitzer, but I'm always hesitant to play guys back to last year's stats when you get coaching changes since a lot of production is scheme dependent --- you won't get many blitzing sacks if you don't blitz much, and I think that interior lb blitz was something horton was aggressive with, as he probably brought it from pitt.

do we have any reason to believe bowles will be running the same aggressive inside blitz packages?

demeco ryans and kendricks combined for one sack with bowles as dc in philly last year, although they had already established a different scheme.

just to underscore this, I looked up some numbers on timmons --- from 2008-12 timmons posted 23 sacks, and he only started a couple games in '08.

that year, his second in the league, he combined with foote and farrior for 10 total sacks.

here are the ilb sack leaders by year

2012 washington 10, timmons 6

2011 bishop, harris, washington 5

2010 farrior (PIT), willis 6

2009 timmons 7

so, you can see timmons averaging nearly 5/yr over 5 years is pretty exceptional, and you can see the lebeau/horton guys littered throughout there.

'traditionally what hes done'

any additional thoughts on this? i imagine this is better than something he hasnt traditionally done

Pickied him up and I am starting him.

Interestling enouth he has not been added to Norton's projections.

J-L Dunbar isn't in this week's LB projections, either, but certainly Washington has a much better chance to make an immediate impact.

I would say congratulations are in order for everyone who had Washington and white-knuckled it and played him this week.

Outside of Watt would we rank anyone ahead of him after this? Maybe he's more valuable than Watt actually..

he knocked rust off in a hurry...

there was some question about how much washington would cut into dansby's production...

but they had eerily mirror image box scores of 8 solos, 2 sacks and 1 INT...

I couldn't decide whether to bench Dansby for Washington so I just started them both. Worked out well so far - may continue it.

Oh, he is totally great at it....just wasn't sure if the new scheme was going to utilize him in that regard as much. You like to think coaches wouldn't limit a players effectiveness like that, buuut we've all seen it happen too. Glad to see it likley isn't happening here.

For anyone who got to watch the game; Was he doing most of his blizting from the interior? Or was he being shifted to the outside/with his hand down at all? I recall reading somewhere last week that, given the injuries at OLB AZ was dealing with, that he may get some work at Will/Rush End in obvious passing situations.

I much prefer him on the interior blitzes and hope that's where most of his rushes were coming from. He's great at picking through the trash, and typically QBs are far more uncomfortable with middle pressure. More likely to have bad things happen(strip sacks, etc) to Daryl's benefit, in my mind.

most of what i saw was him cutting through the interior like a knife. good old dwash, guys got a rocket up his ###. might want to retest him for performance enhancing drugs

and ill add that there were a few plays where Cam was just out of reach, or he over pursued with that speed. day could have been better.....

well, that was pretty disappointing.

I went back through the game and watched each play just to see how he lined up, and all that, and it's hard to say what happened.

dansby did look a little quicker to the ball, but there were a few plays where he got his hands on a guy and just couldn't wrap up, or got carried past trying to make the tackle, he sniffed out a short pass in the flat that just went through his hands, and there were a few times he couldn't quite get to the mobile kaepernick -- but he was close.

he did blitz a few times each quarter, and it seemed that san fran always just managed to get a body on him and block him out of the play --- they had a fullback in 60% of the snaps.

Another pedestrian performance by Washington. I still would like him on my roster and will attempt to fleece him for guys if I can. I've yet to make a successful trade for him but now maybe the market is corrected. I'm betting he goes into beast mode again sooner rather than later.

Man he was so close to getting a sack on that play where Wilson barely got the pass off before his knee hit. Would have helped a lot.

2 quiet weeks in a row after that monster 1st game back. Cant cut bait yet, but if he puts up some total stinkers again the next couple weeks, adios Daryl.

Thinking about cutting him for Beason. My league is pretty tackle heavy, not big play. Sacks certainly help, but can be overcome by heavy tackle numbers.

With the Wagner, Keuchly fizzles this year it would be fitting that Washington would join them to complete the torture. Can these guys use a little more lube next time around? I mean a nagging ankle injury coming out of camp sure would have helped me from depending on them so much.

if he duds (compared to his stud status) again against the swiss cheese atl O-line then I'm a little worried
Atlanta is tied with Denver and Detroit for the fewest sacks given up on the year. 9 in 6 games (on 245 pass attempts). Yes, the line is bad. No, they can't really pass block. Thing is, their coaches know this, and so thru the scheme of their routes and Matt Ryan getting the ball out quick, they aren't giving up sacks. Doesn't mean Darryl Washington won't get one, just that I'd be more surprised if he did than if he didn't.
