QB Culpepper Eager To Compete With QB Green

Rocky Mountain News

Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper says he is nearly 100 percent and will be ready to take on any challengers in mini-camp, come June 8th. "For anybody to come in here and think this is going to be peaches and cream, it's not." Culpepper said in response to QB Trent Green possibly becoming a member of the Dolphins. HC Cam Cameron indicated Friday that if Trent Green were to join the team, that wouldn't necessarily mean Daunte Culpepper would leave.

Would Culpepper have a chance here? Thoughts?

Sure he would. I just think the Fins would be coverring themselves in case he doesn't play like he did years ago. If they both played well, that would be a "good problem".

Both at 100% it is culpepper hands down.

Both at their current skill levels = green pased on his ability to read a defense. C pep is not a QB in a LB body anymore. He doesn't shed tackles and sacks, and his ability to read a defense was never that great to being with. If he gets his legs back, then maybe they are equal. He still has a cannon for an arm, but if he can't stay upright, what does it matter.

I honestly don't think that C-Pepp will ever be a starter again in this league. That makes this an easy question in my mind.

Having said that, I think that Green will have lingering effects from his head injury and might never be the same.

I thought Trent Green's hit last year was career ending. After he came back, his stat line for the final 8 games was:

...........................Pass.....Yards......TD......Int

Week 11 v Oak.....9/16......102.........0..........0

Week 12 v Den.....13/22.....161.........0.........1

Week 13 v Cle......24/32.....297.........4.........1

Week 14 v Bal......15/27......178........1.........2

Week 15 v S D.....23/41......185........0.........1

Week 16 v Oak....12/24.......148........1.........1

Week 17 v Jax.....14/21.......181........1.........2

Week 18 v Ind.....14/24.......107........1.........2

He will be 37 this July. How are those numbers any bit of improvement over what Culpepper will do. I just don't see Miami crowning Trent Green as a starter.

Wow. This is really the lesser of two evils here.

Do you want the concussion boy or mr. busted knee.

Culpeppers got the better upside assuming both were healthy.

I would give him the nod first until he shows he's done.

Given how well Huard did in Green's absence, his poor performance is all the more telling. Frankly, I wouldn't touch either of them -- not in fantasy, not if I were running an NFL team. Green is done. Culpepper will never be what he was -- not without Moss, and not without the threat to run (and he'll never be the threat he was, not at his age, at his weight, with rebuilt knees). I don't understand Miami's woody for Green, to be honest. They better hope Beck is ready to go quickly...and that the Beck/Ginn combo is better than Quinn.
