Gettis is going to be one of the starting WRs in Carolina before too long, IMO - he and Brandon LaFell will be the tandem of the future there if all goes well. He (Gettis) has one 100+ yard receiving game this year (week seven at San Fran, 8/125/2) and also had 2/92/1 in the Baltimore game.
My bud and fellow Footballguy Cecil
Lammey ranked Gettis as the 16th best 2010 WR prospect pre-draft:
16. David Gettis - Baylor, 6’3” 217 lbs. - Gettis does not drop many passes, but he body catches most every pass thrown his way. Coaches were working with him at the Texas vs The Nation game, and Gettis seemed to improve over the course of a week of practice. He can gain significant yards after the catch, but struggles with running precise routes.
Personally, I like his situation/future potential in Carolina. The one thing that concerns me about both those guys (I have drafted both in various dynasty/keeper leagues) is that there WILL be a coaching staff change at the end of this season in Carolina, so the incoming staff won't necessarily have any loyalty to the
last staff's draft picks.
That said, the team spent a lot of picks on offense last year so the incoming staff will have to work with what they have on hand to a degree - they'll have no choice.
