David Johnson trade? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

As a David Johnson owner, I just pulled the trigger on moving him for Kareem Hunt. (in a dynasty league)

I would have loved to hold him, but I wouldnt have the depth at RB to compete this season (only other viable RB is Gurley)

I hope this wasnt short sighted!  I am having traders remorse....

Was this a solid move, or a poor choice?

I don't mind the move if you are in contention this year.  You definitely paid a premium for Hunt but that would have been the only way to get him at this point.  Johnson is a stud for sure but RB's don't have a long shelf life and you are losing out on a year of that shelf life.

I am really high on Hunt though based on his situation and from the eye test.  I probably would have wanted something a bit more if I could get it but to compete this year I don't see it is as terrible.

If you wanted to stay competitive this year it certainly was the right move. As to the future it might also pay off. This has to be Palmers and Fitz's last year and AZ has no one in the pipeline that can replace them which would put them in a rebuilding mode. KC has Mahomes ready to replace Smith and has a young Tyreek Hill and Kelce so their offense should be ready to continue firing next year.

I wouldn't sweat it at all. Reid has an eye for RBs and has made many a superstar. I think DJ is in for some not great years in the near future as the two best players on the team are likely not long for the league after this year. I don't think he'll be the consensus #1 RB much after this year, if at all. He's still top 5 talent, but I really don't think you're losing much, if anything, swapping to Hunt. RBs rarely last long enough in this league to fret over anyway. It's a punishing position and regardless of who you have, you're going to get a lot less time out of them than other positions so even if it were to hurt some, it wouldn't be for that long.
