David Ortiz ejected (1 Viewer)

David Ortiz didn't agree with the call so he argued a little bit then head toward the dugout. Just before he got there he thew his helment and bat down. Not even looking at the ump. The ump watched him the whole way towards the dugout and tossed him right after he threw his equipment.

I'm sure all the 10 year old kids who worship Ortiz and might have this one chance of wathing their hero along with their family who paid $500 to go to the game tonight appreciate your adhering to the strict rule of the game.

Bush league.

Think of all those 10 year olds who'll respect their eqiupment now.

Seems like an even trade, actions have consequences.

:goodposting: At the risk of scarring the poor children in attendance for life, the umps should only throw out the nobodies who break the rules. I agree that this whole idea of "consequences" and "accountability" really isn't the kind of message we want to send our youth.

Who the hell pays $500 for tickets to a baseball game?

At Fenway, with Bonds coming into town, 2 people. That doesn't count parking concessions, etc.

What Ortiz did didn't warrant an expulsion.

My bad. Admittedly, my only knowledge of the situation comes from your writing about the ump "adhering to the strict rule of the game." If Ortiz didn't break the rules he obviously shouldn't have been tossed.

Little Jimmy who saved up his whole paper route money to see Ortiz hates you. I, on the other hand, love bacon.

True, but the guy carries so much controversy around him, it is almost like the media creates the hype themselves

Arguing balls and strikes is an automatic ejection. You don't know what Ortiz said to the umpire. Obviously it was something pretty bad since Ortiz isn't like Rasheed Wallace or anything (i.e. bad rep, short leash)

Ortiz is the one you need to be upset with. I would never pay that amount of money to see him but if I did and that happened. I would be sending him a letter knowing how I felt.

You Can Not argue balls and strikes. That's just the way it is. You also can't throw your equipment around like an idiot in the field of play. I remeber three years ago, or so, Bill Hall did not like a strike three call, which I agreed with, and he dropped hit bat and went to the dugout. Didn't say a word, just dropped his bat and left. The ump saw the bat boy coming to get the bat, called him back and told Hall to pick up the bat. To this day Hall, thaqt I have seen, has not tried to show up the ump like that again. I like it when players get put in their place when they think they are bigger than rules and the game.

:bye: I'm not sure he was saying that Bonds is overrated. I think he was saying that for $500 for 2 people that FENWAY is overrated. Could be wrong though...
