David Pollack hurt (1 Viewer)

He remained conscious and gave a thumbs-up sign with both hands as he left the field on a back board. The team said he had full feeling in his extremities. Pollack was taken for X-rays in the stadium, then transferred to a hospital for further evaluation.
He's probably done for the year, but I cannpt verify the chatter on the message board in the first link. Certainly it's positive that he has full feeling in his extremities.

Subject: David's Health

I first want to thank everyone for all of your thoughts and prayers for

Davey. It means so much to both of us to know that you are thinking of him.

I know you are all probably hearing all sorts of things. We have been

overwhelmed with phone calls, text messages and e-mails, so I apologize for

not getting back to some of you sooner. I just wanted to give everyone a

brief update before I head back to the hospital. Davey did break his neck-

I hate how that sounds though. He fractured his C6, for those of you who

know what that is, but he is so blessed to have feeling everywhere! The

doctors have put him in a Halo brace to stabilize him. He is able to move

from the chest down, so he can sit up, eat, walk, etc. Right now we are

just in a waiting period. We won't know for a little bit whether surgery

has to be an option or not. We are hopeful that he won't have to have

surgery and that he will be able to wear the brace and the bone repair

itself. We just have to wait and see how his neck responds to the Halo for

the next week or so. I wish I had more to tell, but that is where we are

now. We are hoping he can come home in the next couple of days. On a

lighter note... Davey is in wonderful spirits! He is joking with all the

nurses and keeping everyone laughing still. He has a wonderful perspective

on things and he has just been solid! He amazes me more each and every day!

Please continue to say your prayers please! He will be at University

Hospital at least until tonight. I will be there all day, so I won't be

able to respond to emails. I will continue to keep you updated as I am

able! We love you all so much and are so blessed to have your friendship

and support! We both know that God's hand is in this and He has a great

plan than either of us know. We are both leaning on Him right now to guide

us through this time and our decisions. He has blessed us with each and

every one of you in our lives and for that we are grateful!

Love,

Lindsey

Damn.

David's one of my favorite players since his days in Georgia.

Hope he gets well soon. Good to hear he didn't lose his humor over this though.

Please keep us informed if you hear anything new on his condition.

I have always thought Pollack was a great player since his days at Georgia. He use to kill LSU. I hope he gets better soon.

undrafted rookie Rashad Jeanty started in place of Pollack during week one. Have any ideas what the Bengals plan to do at SLB?

Jeanty will start. I thought he played very solidly in the pre-season. He won't have the added pass rush dimension (which will hurt at some point), but he'll be very good in run support.

Rotoworld says Jeanty should start, Brooks to see more snaps.

I expect that's right, but there's some intrigue with the LBs on this roster, isn't there? Simmons playing the middle. O'Dell coming back. He is coming back right? Johnson playing well. Brooks supposedly coming along. AJ Nicholson is a player.

I would really like to see how this plays out as I have Ahmad Brooks on my practice squad. Long run, I think Brooks will be the best LB on the team. What position he plays is another story.

Not much intrigue this season. When Thurman is deemed ready to play, Simmons moves back to the weakside and Johnson to the bench. Johnson is a very nice player, but will get only spot duty when Thurman returns. Brooks really shouldn't get any more time than before unless Jeanty struggles and his pre-season looks suggest he won't.Nicholson and Miller are probably off the hot seat now. One of the two were almost certainly going to be cut when Thurman returned from suspension. The loss of Pollack means that both can be carried until a decision has to be made on Chris Perry.
