DeAngelo Says TO Spit (1 Viewer)

TO should pull a Dexter Manley and say he just sneezed. :D

I think both DeAngelo and TO are punks for the record.

TO just admitted to it on the postgame show. But said he later apologized for it. :D

I think the league will likely suspend TO a game for this. TO continues to find new ways to try to ruin the Cowboys. Expect this to be a HUGE story the next week.

1. What do u think the likelihood of a suspension is?2. When would it take place?
depends on if dallas can clinch home field anywhere in the next two weeks. IF he gets suspended TO can appeal, no? they likely wouldn't want him suspended for the playoffs, so week 17 is my guess, if at all.fine only is also an option.

Overeaction. The league won't suspend him if it wasn't even a flag in the game. I don't think he "ruined" the Cowboys tonight...Had 2 big TDs.

I think he will be suspended. Spitting in someone's face causes such a stir among players (usually leads to huge brawls) that Goodall will nip this right away. I would expect the suspension to start immediately (unless TO appeals). I think an appeal is unlikely though as that would cause TO to miss playoff games. I suspect TO will miss week 16 at a minimum (plus a huge fine). Let's see what gets announced on Monday. I think this story isn't going to fade away anytime soon. I expect the Commish to make an announcement on Monday/Tuesday.

 Just because a ref missed it doesn't mean that a player can't be suspended for something that happens during a game. I think that there's an excellent chance that he'll get suspended. If he does end up suspended, my guess is that he appeals and then drops the appeal after Week 16 so that his suspension is for Week 17. No way does he miss the Monday night game on Christmas night against the Eagles at home. If he does end up suspended for Week 16, there are going to be a fair number of fantasy teams screwed heavily in their championship game.

Sean Taylor was only suspended for the seahawks game last year (playoff game) and they had video evidence to prove he actually did it.

Did Romanowski ever get suspended for spitting on Stokes? I don't remember but that was heavily televised. I doubt we will see a shot of TO..

The more I think about it, I agree that TO will appeal and then miss week 17. That's if this is for just 1 game. They gave Haynesworth 4 games for stomping on a person's head. I am not saying this is equal by any means, but there will be a lot of pressure to suspend TO. It's possible that the Cowboys sit him down themselves as they can't be happy about one of their players spitting in someone's face (and likely getting asked a million questions about it this upcoming week).

This reaction is getting out of control. Stupid, disgraceful thing to do. TO's no role model. Newsflash.

No one got hurt. I suspect every NFL game gets a bit ugly at times. Neither the NFL nor the Cowboys are going to make an example out of TO.

At worst it's a one game suspension - Week 17 after he drops an appeal.

Agree with a prior poster - no way he missed christmas night at home vs. the eagles. i would also think the NFL wants him to play - better ratings with the TO thing, even if it's the 2nd time this year.

1. NFL wants TO playing in the MNF game against Philly. Ratings.2. Sean Taylor was fined and not suspended for spitting on Pittman last year. Other players have not been suspended in the past for spitting.

TO will surely play against the Eagles next week - no worry for the FF world... the NFL wants him to be there... I'm not saying he won't be suspended though (I think he should - that's a disgraceful gesture)...

TO probably spit in "speedyHall" eyes going right by him on his second TD catch...

I don't see what the big deal is. Every player spits on his opponents from time-to-time.

Signed,

Chronic T.O. Apologist

Even though Da boys won I feel bad because of what TO did , but he was man enough to say he was sorry..keep in mind D Hall and TO are very competitive, and things can happen and emotions can take over you. Everyone that is a hardcore sports fan has (I'm sure) had someone talking #### to them at one time or another, and no matter what u do there are times you will loose your cool ( not saying TO did the same..talking ####) but that was wrong and he admitted to it plain and simple not saying it is right but in the heat of the moment you do get carried away.

PS: What if the falcons would have won DO U THINK D HALL WOULD HAVE REALLY MADE THIS AN ISSUE???

This is how I remember it too.If this is right and there is video evidence proving T.O. did the same, he will get the one game suspension as well.Goodall isn't dumb, if there's a precident sent (less than a year ago nonetheless), why wouldn't T.O. get the same?

WrongTaylor was not suspended, but he was fined 17K.

Taylor was accused of spitting at Housh earlier last year, but no punishment was handed down because there was no video evidence.

FYI to all thinking video evidence is necessary for whatever punishment (if any) is administered.Video evidence is unnecessary in this particular case. TO point blank admitted he spit in Hall's face on the NFL's own TV Network.

TO should be held to the same standard Romo was.

Please don`t tell me that it is OK for black players to spit in another black players face. :bye:

I would expect the questions to Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells to look like this:

- Do you condone this type of behavior?

- Do you plan to discipline TO for spitting on a player?

- If you do not plan on disciplining him, are there different rules for different players on this team?

If the NFL does not suspend TO, there will be a lot of pressure on Parcells and Jones to sit him down week 1 week I think. They can try and deflect this as a league issue ("We will respect the league's position"), but this is going to get under Jones and Parcells skin a lot this week. Sitting him down a week is the way for that nonsense to stop.

It will be interesting to hear what the Commish and Jerry Jones have to say over the next few days.

I do think this spells the last year of TO with the Cowboys. I expect Parcells to come back, but I doubt he would take TO back. No one has ever doubted TO's football ability, but I think this latest incident (to go along with his other antics) will have him leaving Dallas after this season.

I think if the Cowboys sit TO down for a week, TO will do everything he can to be an even greater distraction. I think the NFL fines him, and I don't think the Cowboys will add on to what the NFL does.

If he does get suspended for spitting, it's symbolic only. If you disected a game play by play you could find many worse acts than spitting. I'm sure nothing like that ever happens at the bottom of a pile. :banned:

Wrong...Spitting in a man's face ranks lower in the NFL than a Bronco crackback block to the knees...Dodds is correct - this is big, and T.O. is likely up for suspension in his one and only year with the Cowboys..What a stupid, moronic punk this guy is. I'm almost looking forward to his Mike Tyson-like retirement already..

Common sense dictates that he is not going to be suspended. One, the precedent has been set, spitting = fine. Romo - fined, Taylor - fined. Two, there appears to be no video evidence of the event. If there was, we would have seen it 145 times by now. Obviously doesn't mean it didn't happen, but the public will not be barraged with images of it.There's only two ways that he gets suspended in my mind1. Because of who he is.2. Because Goodell wants to let it be known that there's a new sheriff in town.

Not to hijack the thread, but I also agree that this will be TO's only year in Dallas. What I can't figure out is what GM in their right mind would sign him next year.Anyone think his career is over?

Um, did you know what Denver does is perfectly legal (Nalen's late cheap shot aside)? Just curious.

Goodall absolutely should suspend TO. You cant have a league where guys are going around and spitting in each others face. Thats about as unsportsmanlike as you can get. The only thing to debate is how many games he should be suspended for.

Goddall's has been big on the image of the NFL. Precedents aren't going to matter unless they are from this year. I say TO is gone for a game, Philly or no.

My shots are that TO will be fined and not suspended. I wonder which was worse for DeAngelo? Getting spit on or getting scored on twice after getting spit on? Ouch.

And you can say what you want about TO but playing with that finger injury and not having surgery as well as not bringing it up after every dropped ball will earn him major credit with the team. TO will be back next year as long as something huge doesn't happen. Of course with TO something huge is always a possibility...

I am wondering about the possible NFL suspension. If it is for one game, it would be immediate unless it is appealed. And if appealed, it woould be for the game after the appeal is settled. But, my question is who appeals? If TO, everyone that posted assumed that he would drop it after this week so that he could play the Eagles and then not miss the playoffs. But with TO and his all about me attitude, would he act prudently and drop the appeal logically?I also agree that if the NFL does not suspend him, the Cowboys likely will and that will mean the end of TO at Dallas. Maybe I am wrong, but I just can't see all the distractions this year worth a trip to the playoffs, which I believe the Cowboys could have made possibly anyway.

:banned: It's either Parcells or TO next year. I'm casting my lot with Parcells.

Maybe your not familiar with the Dallas Cowboys. They always have distractions and the playoffs and the superbowl are worth it all. Jerry Jones will say something like "We will let the league judgement run its course." Parcells will say something that will ridicule the media and tell them TO has them all fooled and that he doesn't know anything about the matter. He will then say that unless they have something important to talk about he is going to go because he has a game to get ready for.The great news for the Cowboys and TO is that the NBA had that fight during the same night and that will offset some of the media coverage. Otherwise it would have been TO spit coverage 24/7 until the next game.

if they suspend TO for the Philly game the vegas odds are 10-1 he has a blowup that ruins the Cowboys for the year.

Overreact much?Fine, no suspension. Period.Maybe you never heard of a guy named L. Taylor. This guy smoked crack, a lot. He also got busted for....smoking crack....a lot. Did LT get cut or released by Bill? :thumbdown:TO is producing. Bill does really try to draft and sign high character guys, but he's not afraid to deal with a bad apple. TO isn't a thug, he doesn't get arrested and he produced on the field and plays and practices hard.I think TO is an idiot, but THIS incident is hardy grounds for him to be released or even speculation.

WHY does TO have to go out of his way to get attention though???? ALL THE TIME???Why can't he just let his on-field play speak??What a d-bag!

Wrong

Taylor was not suspended, but he was fined 17K.
Thank you for posting that. Based on what was done with Sean Taylor, I don't think they'll suspend Owens.
Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was fined $17,000 by the NFL yesterday for spitting on Tampa Bay running Michael Pittman during Saturday's playoff game, league sources said. Taylor will not be suspended for the team's NFC semifinal game in Seattle on Saturday.

Alot of talk over nothing IMO. No suspension, just a fine. They are gonna suspend a guy for spitting???? Doesn't that happen all the time within pile ups, etc?? Like someone else said, if the Cowboys suspend T.O, it will become a much greater issue than it already is. They are going to throw this under the rug and never talk about it after this week.
