DeAngelo Williams is Panther (1 Viewer)

Winston Justice is falling much further than expected. Will the Carolina Panthers take a risk with the character issues that come with Justice? I personally would prefer LenDale White, but if Justice slips to 27, it seems that Carolina will at least be tempted to take Justice. He could play on the left side, even though he played RT at USC, and take over for Travelle Wharton. Justice and Gross could be bookend tackles for the next 5 years easily.

Thoughts?

Any thoughts? I'm not trying to mock, just get a feeling. Lendale has been the "assumed" pick of the Panthers for about 2 weeks now, but the Panthers have a history of NOT taking their "expected" pick. I'm not sure if ownership will be willing to touch Justice due to his character issues, but he's a helluva tackle.

I'd rather they go Justice here, as much as I like Lendale and D'Angelo. Justice is a steal if they can keep him in line, and now he has something to prove (cliche I know)

I love Foster, but the Panthers want to run a power running game. You can't tell me that Lendale White and Deshaun Foster isn't a more explosive version of the 03 Panther duo of Davis and Foster.

I am intrigued by Justice though. Two bookend tackles would be huge for a running team. But we need healthy running backs to execute our offense and I think you need two quality running backs to do that.

No I can't. But I can tell you that getting a potential uberstud O-Lineman at this spot in the draft is a major coup.If we get LenDale White though, trust me, I will shed no tears.

I would have rather had Justice from a football standpoint, but this is the safer pick and I don't really want some guy who points guns at Jews.

DeAngelo is money.

Even with Foster, I have to imagine that DeAngelo is a top 5 dynasty pick in the Carolina offense.
Why pay all the $$$ to Foster this offseason
Because Foster will still be the starter for now, and he'll be productive enough to keep the job unless he gets hurt again. Durability is a concern, so adding a RB like Williams isn't a bad idea.

 I think Foster just lost his starting job.

DeAngelo Williams - 6,026 rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns on 969 carries. He also established an NCAA Div I record with 34 individual 100-yard rushing performances and 7,206 all-purpose yards.

:headbang:

I'm not thrilled with the deal...

I'd rather have Williams in New England than fighting for carries with Foster and Shelton. Plus, the way that Carolina uses RBs, Williams' durability could surfase as an issue.

Granted, however, that a healthy Williams who earns the spot will be a man-child in Carolina.

I don't think he'll have to fight too hard with Shelton for carries. Foster goes back to what he was with Stephen Davis (when Davis was healthy) IMO and Williams is going to put up great #s.

And zero fumbles. Zero. That's mind-boggling.

Fair enough. I don't.

Strange pick by the Panthers. Williams doesn't offer much of a complement to Foster's skills. My guess is that the Panthers were just really high on his prospects and that they couldn't pass on him despite the fact that he's not a perfect fit for their team.

Thank God for the pick! I was so afraid we wouldn't be able to draft 1 of the major 2-3 RBs. Foster is good, but he simply can't be counted on health-wise. We can't watch our hopes slip away again when he gets hurt, without a 2nd viable starter. After all, Nick Goings gets banged up himself, and we don't know jack about Shelton.

I wouldn't assume that what we need is a clone of what S. Davis brought to the team.

So what you are a Steelers and Panthers fan? That's convenient.

I agree completely. I think with Foster's durability issues, Williams is a much needed addition. From a fantasy standpoint it isn't what people want to see, but from a Panther standpoint it's great.

I'm happy with the Williams pick. I thought they might have to trade up to secure him and they didn't. Now if we follow this up with Fasano or Bing with the 2nd pick I'll be loving this draft.

panthers are going to be a very good team with all the great moves they have made. i am a saints fan so i wouldnt say this if i didnt think it was true. the division will end up with panthers first saints2nd bucs third and falcon because of mv not producing last . matt is a better qb overall the sooner they realize that the better.sorry atlanta fans dont intend to make anyone mad.

So who is the next pick for the Panthers?? I was thinking Fasano, but Dallas grabbed him. There was a run on safeties and there's not much good talent left.
