Deep deep sleeper alert: Dominique Zeigler, WR, 49ers (1 Viewer)

Indications are that receiver Dominique Zeigler will be activated from the practice squad, where he has been toiling since the start of last season. Zeigler said he isn’t sure – he’s holding off on alerting his family – but the secret seems to be out. As Zeigler address reporters Friday, tight end Delanie Walker walked by Zeigler’s locker chanting, “Monday night, baby, Monday night!”Zeigler, 24, is slightly built at 6-3, 185 pounds, but he has good hands and a knack for the occasional stunning catch in practice. With Arnaz Battle (sprained foot) out, the 49ers will give him a chance. Zeigler’s last regular playing time came at Baylor — Singletary’s alma mater – where he had 741 yards and three touchdowns as a senior.

Dominique Zeigler, WR/Baylor: Zeigler (6-2, 181) ran 4.55 and 4.60 in the 40-yard dash. He had a 34½-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, ran 4.42 in the short shuttle and 7.18 in the cone drill. Even though his numbers here don’t exactly stand out, put in the tape and he impresses. He has some of the top hands in the class, and has underrated speed/quickness, enough to get good separation, anyways.

Niners WR Jason Hill will fill in for Arnaz Battle (foot) as the No. 3 WR Monday at Arizona.

Coach Mike Singetary says he's excited about his young receivers, Hill and Josh Morgan. Receivers coach Jerry Sullivan also hinted that the opportunity could lead to an increased role for Hill if he impresses Monday. Dynasty leaguers should monitor Hill's performance Monday night.
