Deep Impact Dynasty League-

League Fee: $150 via LeagueSafe + $25 deposit that is returned if your team sells at full price. All payments will need to be made by the end of March. Plan as of now is to start the initial auction the first week of May, after the NFL draft.

Prize Structure: $1000/$400/$230/$150, $150 (points), $100 (Toilet Bowl)  (-$70 for MFL)

Teams: 14

Roster Size: 27 min/30 max. No taxi squad. Unlimited IR spots, however placing a player on IR guarantees they'll be on you roster at the following seasons auction or take a 75% cap hit of their salary.

Initial Auction: Slow auction using MFL. Your team must walk away from the auction with a minimum 24 players and a max of 30 and stay under $350.

Dynasty Format: Simple Dynasty with soft cap. Initial auction with $350 cap for the auction. During the off-season, salaries raise $5 a year or 10% (rounded to the higher dollar amount), whichever is greater. Players can be on your roster for a max of 4 years. Keep as many on your roster that you would like, while staying under the cap. Rookies are included in the yearly free agent auction. Salary cap is not enforced during the season. This is referred to as a soft cap.

Starting Lineup: Deep Superflex- 1 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 1 Superflex, 3 Flex, 1 K and 1 DEF. I'm not 100% sold on the K/DEF position in this format. The league can vote to eliminate them or we can nerf the scoring.

Regular Season format: Double Headers every week, so you play every team twice during the regular season. Also, victory points will be scored, and will be used to determine the last two playoff spots, so nobody misses out on bad luck.

Playoff Format: Weeks 14-16. Top two teams based off record get a bye in Week 14. The remaining top 3 teams based off record and 2 teams based off victory points, go into a Week 14 shootout, with the top 2 of 5 teams moving on to the championship game. Week 15 and 16 will be accumulative scoring between the 4 remaining teams.

Trading: Yes and encouraged through Week 12.

Waiver System: Blind Bidding with waivers ran Wednesday night and then first come, first serve after that. All teams start with 200 bb credits plus whatever they had left over from the auction. Yearly cap price will not be determined by the amount paid in blind bidding, but rather an amount determine after the previous seasons auction. An example is any QB added in blind bidding will be given a salary of the 15th priced QB. Any QB added in First come, first serve waivers will be given the salary of the 29th priced QB. This will not have an effect on the current years cap, as the salary cap is only in effect for the auction but will allow you to keep the pickups for 3 more years, if you choose to do that.

Scoring (not all but the basics):

  • .5 ppr for RB/WR, .75 ppr for TE
  • .5 for a rushing or receiving first down for QB/RB/WR and .75 for a rushing or receiving first down for TE
  • 4 points passing TD
  • 6 points for any other TD (inc. return TD)
  • .04 for passing yards
  • .1 for rushing/receiving yards
  • 3 point bonus for 350 yards passing, 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving (75 yards for TE's)

Question about the soft cap...

So during the season you can trade and pick up free agents that put you above the $350 salary cap, right?  During the off-season, teams would then need to reduce their cap down to $350 before the next season, correct?

Do you happen to have a similar league that you may have run?  I'm looking for my first Salary Cap/Auction league (though have been in dynasty for many years) so I'm trying to research as much as I can before committing, especially at this price.

Thanks!

Exactly right with the salary cap. The only two points where the salary cap in effect is at the start of the yearly auction and through the auction. Trades after the auction do not have to be salary cap compliant. The goal is to be under the cap before the auction, but also have enough cap room to add players/rookies in the yearly auction.

I run three other leagues, but none are setup like this. I play in a keeper league that was basis for the salary cap portion of this league, but in that league you can only keep a max of 3.
