Deep Waiver Wire RBs (1 Viewer)

LHUCKS

Footballguy
RBs are so thin this year I thought I'd share a handfull of my favorite RB stashes in deeper leagues.

Knowshon Moreno - McGahee is no spring chicken and Knowshon would be respectable in Peyton's offense if McGahee were to go down. Moreno has experience and even punched in a TD week one.

Felix Jones - Available in a ton of leagues as if Murray were the next Cal Ripken, he's the anti-Ripken based on his history so consider Felix. The Cowboys offense looked strong so although Felix has proven to be inconsistent, the situatin provides enough upside to warrant a roster spot for Felix in deep leagues.

Mikel Leshoure - While rostered in most competitive leagues, if you're in a league where he's available snatch him up because he's the eventual starting RB in Detroit, regardless of how good Smith may have looked.

LaMichael James - the eventual third down/gadget player for the 49ers, James could surprise in PPRs as there was a buzz in 49ers camp about James' ability in open space.

Why must you curse this man?

All rostered in every league I'm in.

I'll add a few who may be true WW RBs.

Bilal Powell

William Powell

Travaris Cadet

Taiwan Jones

Evan Royster - Some teams may cast him away after Alfred Morris' performance, grab and stash if he gets cut loose.

Seems to be talented, but he is the Saints' 5th RB. Might be a stash for those who play in 16-team dynasties with 30-man rosters. But for the usual redraft leagues, Cadet is three injuries away from producing. Not disparaging the call at all ... just pointing out that Cadet won't help a shallow-roster redrafter this year.

I have to say, you have been a real asset around these parts this year. Bringing some good topics up. I am especially on board with the Moreno pick as having a possible payoff. The way Manning plays, he likes to have a running back he can throw to. Moreno is a lot like Addai in that he does nothing truly special, either.

I own Murray and initially picked up Felix as a handcuff, but ended up needing to drop him to pick up Turbin when Lynch had his injury concerns. Personally, I think Philip Tanner would be the play if Murray were to go down. Felix would get more touches for sure, but I think Tanner would be the guy getting 15-20 touches.

Hey guys here are some Waiver Wire players to look into this week:

Michael Turner: Seems a lot of folks laid off him due to being old. I'm here to say he's GONNA produce!

Stevan Ridley : I know in all my leagues he was avoided due to the Patriots running game never producing a 1000 yard rusher.... game on for this fella! :football:

Percy Harvin: A sneaky guy in PPR leagues... some people think this offense is ALL ADP. Real Sharks know that's not the case.

RGIII: Seems like ALL the hype was on luck this preseason. Meanwhile sharks like myself were taking late round flyers on this unknown kid up in washington. Beat the other guppies in your league to the wire for this fella. He's something special! You heard it here first. :coffee:

Dude, he said deep picks. Guys like C.J. Spiller.

I like the idea of Felix Jones. Despite him showing up unable to pass the conditioning test this offseason, he is the handcuff for Murray. Jones is no iron man himself, so keep an eye on Tanner.

I have Bilal Powell rostered myself. I don't see him unseating Greene, but he will get some work as a third down back. Powell's real value is in the event of a Greene injury. Powell could grab the starting job and not look back if that happens. It was a bit disconcerting that he failed to make the active roster most weeks last season, so perhaps there are issues I am unaware of.

If your PPR league lists Dexter McCluster as a RB, he has some value. If Week #1 and the preseason are a good gauge, the Chiefs plan to keep McCluster heavily involved.

I expected to see Marcel Reece get a few more touches last night. Reece is rugged and versatile, and given the lack of a TE threat, Reece could fill the void.

Teams are relying more on role players, and ultra-quick backs such as Danny Woodhead and Dexter McCluster are a matchup nightmare for defenses and keep the chains moving. Daryl Richardson, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Chris Rainey and Taiwan Jones come to mind as RBs who could excel in such a role.

If F Jax is out an extended period, Tashard Choice may get an opportunity for an increased role, particularly in short yardage situations.

you know things are bad when we're talking tashard choice after week 1. he's usually reserved for week's 11-16 when youre screwed for the ff playoffs.

Thanks Ron Mexico, I have the same issue as my 16 team leagues all the players in the OP were taken. Curious to know why you feel Travaris Cadet might be worth stashing as he's pretty buried on the depth chart.Another name to look at in deep leagues is Darius Reynaud. If your league gives you points for return yardage he could be a great pickup. He returns both punts and kicks for TENN since Mariani went down and he seems to be getting some looks on offense on 3rd downs. Seems to have some ability catching the ball out of the backfield. Think Dexter Mccluster type RB. Also, yahoo gives him the flexible WR/RB designation.

Yeah, the RB position is especially dicey this season. You know your season is in trouble if you're signing the likes of Tashard Choice after Week #1!

This is freaking hilarious. How could anyone think you were being serious????

Unless you are in 16 team leagues, if you are scouring for the likes of these RBs already you're likely in big trouble.

Or you could be like me in a 12 team league with very deep rosters. My league has 10 bench spots but also a limit of 10 FA pickups for the entire season. I am burning to drop Ronnie Brown (got for $1 as Mathews handcuff) and am looking for someone to pickup. But since I'm limited to 10 pickups I need to be judicious.Still, having your names on your radar is always a good topic of discussion. You don't have to be desperate. Some of us like staying ahead of the curve.

Wait, [icon], weren't you all up in that thread about peeing in the shark pool getting worse? Most of the guys he listed are available in 2 of my leagues where we have very short benches. I have 14 roster spots in 1 league with 9 starters and unless you want to drop your stud D/K (yes I said K)/QB, you have only 3-4 roster spots including primary backups. Here are my backups: Hillis, Alfred Morris, Britt, Royster, J. Rodgers

Note that I don't even have a backup QB/K/D rostered, so please tell me who of the above players I should have cut for one of the folks listed?

How about you make fun of LHUCKS in the FFA and stop peeing in the same pool you are complaining about others peeing in. TIA.

I don't know...I'm always looking for ways to upgrade every single spot on my roster. I often try and swing two for one trades so I free up roster spots and it's always good to take punts at guys and see what happens.

:goodposting: Sometimes I may drop a quality backup like Hillis later on if Charles looks solid and Hillis doesn't look good. If Smith seems to be getting dinged and LeShoure looks better than Smith in his smaller set of carries. If Hillis has no chance at starting in my lineup even if Charles gets dinged, I might be better off grabbing someone who could be a homerun if they get the chance.

just report him
I'll let you do that, he is normally a good poster. I'm not a big fan of yours in the FFA, but the whole "these guys aren't on waivers in my league is so stupid and probably doesn't come up if it isn't you. I play in 12 team leagues with 14, 15 and 20 roster spots. Amazingly enough, the waiver wire is pretty bare in the 20 roster spots, but not in the 14/15 roster spots, especially come the bye weeks where people have to actually have a backup QB and a backup D/K if they don't want to drop their starter. Shocking how having 60-72 more rostered players might actually affect whose in the waiver wire, especially the guys you mentioned who no one will start in week 2.

I know better than to mock threads like this one after Jackie Battle helped me to win a pivotal matchup in my 16-team league last season as a one-week flyer.I'm particularly intrigued by the Reynaud suggestion given CJ?K's continued struggles and the fact that my league only has a W/T flex option this year (a plus given his dual position designation on Yahoo!). I'm a little miffed they took McCluster's away only to give it back to him after the start of the season... he would have been far higher up on my draft radar had they maintained it.
