Defenses to target (1 Viewer)

Anyone looking to pickup a defense for the rest of the season? I currently have the Steelers as my DST. Looking at their schedule for the next 3 weeks, they have Cinci, NE, and Jax, none of which are a good matchup.

Does anyone have any sleeper defenses to play for the next couple of weeks? I was looking at the Saints, whose next 3 games are Tampa (no garcia), Atlanta, Arizona.

Any other opinions?

I was going to drop the Ravens D until I saw that they play Miami in week 15 or 16. I doubt they will be on the wire, but that will be a nice D to have in the championship.

Miami has by far the easiest schedule through week 16.

edited to add that their D hasn't been playing all that bad and I'm sure they will be more inspired as they get closer to 0-16.

Call me nuts but I just took Cleveland off the WW this week. Their Sacks are way up over the last 5 weeks according to the Wheelhouse article. Their schedule is pretty cake. Their offense is very potent which forces teams to pass a lot to stay in games which leads to lots of sacks, fumbles and hopefully pick 6's

Week 13 - vs NYJWeek 14 - @ BUFWeek 15 - vs BALWeek 16 - @ NENot sure what would make you think this is the "easiest schedule by far" as Bloom suggests - Tampa Bay = @ NO; @ HOU; vs ATL; and @ SFYou might look at Cleveland as well - their DS is improving = @ AZ; @ NYJ; vs BUF; and @ CIN

Bucs are outstanding from here on out. I'm already regretting picking up Tennessee instead of them.

Quick glance at my wire....SF and Cinci are the best out there with favorable schedules.

Colts: Jags, Ravens, Raiders, Texans.

Not exactly a world beater among those, especially once you get past Jacksonville.

Saints are a decent choice too. Good front 7. Crappy DBs.

I dropped the Colts D in favor of the Bucs. Seems the Bucs D has been playing inspired lately. And for the playoff push I need points and they have a cake schedule. Though my DBC (defense by committee) approach hasn't paid dividends so far this year.

:goodposting:

I posted this in another thread, but here's how I'm handling the Steeler's DST schedule in tandem with the Bengals D:

week 13 - Steelers D vs. Cincy

week 14 - Cincy D vs. STL

week 15 - tossup, either Steelers vs. JAX, or Cincy @ SF

week 16 - Steelers at STL

2 weeks against the Rams. :goodposting:

Nuts. that was vs. some sub-par offenses: BAL (no passing game) and HOU (no running game). Not sure if they are a great pickup.I like TB, maybe WAS this week. TEN if H-worth comes back (they have been bad the last 3 weeks, and may have been dropped). What about STL (at least for week 13)?

Careful with what SF did vs. ARI....

That's week 16 of the NFL schedule, most fantasy leagues are done by then. The Jets, Buff, and Balt are horrible and I'd challenge you to show me a team with an easier schedule that has a "decent" defense.

Haynesworth is supposed to be back this week. I was able to pick them back up this week, I think I'll be staying with them. Best schedule of what's potentially out on a wire for me. A lot of people may have let them go after a the last couple of weeks.

I always thought week 16 is when most fantasy leagues have their Super Bowl. :hot:

I have a bye so I based by decision on weeks 15 and 16. My WW teams in a league that only counts sacks, defensive scores, interceptions and fumble recoveries:

THRU WEEK 12 GAMES; the first sets of numbers are sacks/ints/FR and then the total for each defense. The second info is the teams played in weeks 15 and 16 with the sacks/ints give up by each opponent. Sorry this looked better in Word.

Tampa 22 13 11 46 Atl. (34/10) @S.F. (37/11)

Jax 25 14 7 46 @Pitt (35/10) Oak. (34/14)

Minnesota: 26 13 11 50 Chi. (32/17) Was (17/10)

KC 27 12 8 47 Ten. (20/13) @Det.(45/14)

I went with Minn due to the picks thrown by Chi, home games with a dome and it's more important to make my superbowl than to look too far ahead and take KC yet.

I also considered Cincy and Bears but discarded them.

NO... that's when many fantasy leagues have their championship game. The Super Bowl is the championship game of the NFL.

Week 14 - New Orleans @ATL

Week 15 - Miami vs. BAL

Week 16 - Arizona vs. ATL

Week 17 - Arizona vs. STL or New Orleans @ CHI

I don't have much to choose from on my WW, but I picked up Denver (Week 14 vs. KC) and Jacksonville (Week 16 vs. Oakland). Still don't know what I'm going to do about Week 15.

I picked up Cleveland specifically for week 15 against the Bills, at home. They are most likely availabe in most leagues. I locked up a bye so that was the week I was trying to target. My other D is Jacksonville, which does not have a great matchup THAT week.

Same here
I wouldn't feel too bad with TENN going forward. Haynesworth is on the mend and makes a huge difference. They also have favorable matchups in Weeks 15 and 16 against KC and NYJ. And who knows? Maybe Indy will be in a position to bench their starters in week 17.

Trying to decide if i still have faith in GB D after last night and with Favre potentially out and TB and TEN on waivers. :bs:

Colts are not nearly as attractive without Freeney. Saints are a good call, if only for this week.
Given how godawful the Raiders and Ravens are offensively(23rd and 25th in points scored) I think I'd take my chances with the Colts if they put Dwight White out there, at age 58, to play DE those two games. As long as the Colts don't lose Sanders I think they'll be "fine." Not expecting them to be the #1 D for the remainder of the season, but I can see them giving someone more than a team with a brutal schedule will. In my league's scoring format the Colts have only scored under double digits twice this year(9 points both times.) They've been without DF for, what, basically 3 games now? 6 sacks and 4 picks in that timespan. They did give up 23 points to the Chargers, but they basically handled the Chiefs and Falcons. The Raiders and Ravens aren't exactly light years better than either(about 4 points per game on the year.)Bob Sanders misses any time and they're toast, however.

hopefully the field at PIT will remain crappy so the yardage and points stay down. I'm sticking with the Stillers

I think NO looks real good this week. They have been shutting down the run MUCH better of late. They do that, and you're in business with Garcia out. Their first 3 weeks you have to throw out (didn't have ONE sack and only TWO TOs) and teams were running wild.

However, since the bye they've been a different team. 3 of 4 will be at home, and if they continue with that offense, there should be some good opportunites.

vs TB

at ATL

vs AZ

vs PHI

For any of you with Detroit, Cinci makes a great addition; I would get them before next week however...

DET: @MINNY, DAL, @SD, KC

CIN: @PITT, STL, @SF, CLE

Moreover, if you're into Drinens' SOS, those are all excellent matchups.

anyone like Mia for this week vs the Jets. I am at the point I have to go Def by committee, just play the best DEF with the best match up

Very happy to acquire TB from waivers last week. Love their playoff schedule big time! :goodposting:
Hmmmm...a measly 4 points in my league. 1 fum rec and 3 sacks...against a NO team that is prone to turn the ball over.Once again my DBC approach is less than stellar. I wouldn't get too excited for their cake schedule.

Really? Carolina and St Louis were two of the best plays yesterday, and both of those defenses are weaker than TB - their opponents? SF and ATL - Tampa's opponents in week 15 and 16.

Fair enough. But would you agree that they should have scored more than 4 points against NO? I mean, Brees has ALMOST been the second coming of Rex Grossman this year...damn schizophrenic, bipolar QB's! :sadbanana:

I picked up TB for the playoffs, but I knew that it would not be a big week for TB's defense against NO

Brees: 20 tds and 6 INTs in his last 8 games and less than 10 sacks given up for the whole season
