Delayed at Airport, AMA - Answers to all of Life's Questions Inside Here (1 Viewer)

Flying out tomorrow morning for some pretty important work related stuff that impacts my financial well-being - I packed a bag (which leads to another question downthread) and set my outfit up. I noticed my go to shoes for business casual are looking more worn than I like. Everything is closed and I'm out before it opens. I'm going straight from flight to meeting to meeting to hotel to entertaining and prob have minimal downtime between.

While facing this dilemma, I googled O'Hare Airport Stores (hey LD) and see they have a Johnston & Murphy store. I've walked by a ton of stores in JFK a bunch of times and always wondered why anyone would shop in an airport, I now have an answer.

Anyone else ever shop in an airport?

Also, business travel, how much do you bring with you for a 1 night trip? My last couple trips I've accomplished it all with one backpack.

Sure, I almost exclusively shop at airports. I even get my groceries there, LAX has a Whole Foods. It's great, so much savings I just have them deliver the change so I can roll around in it before I put the Ritz crackers away.

I've shopped on international layovers to kill time and spend leftover currency.  A watch guy like you would really love the shops in Asian airports.

Domestic airports have the same crap as everywhere else plus you have to lug whatever you buy around for the rest of the trip.  I supposed that's true of foreign airports as well but at least it's unfamiliar crap.

Shoes are the problem with one bag travel.  I guess I can get by without running shoes on an overnight but a second pair of shoes are usually enough to put me over (unless I hang them from the backpack like a hobo).

Depending on the condition of your shoes, you might opt for a shoeshine at a stand in the airport. Your shoes will look as good as possible and probably be more comfortable than a brand new pair.

I shopped today at Phoenix Sky Harbor during my 3.5 hour lay over.  Picked up some new headphones and got a massage
