Delhomme "MIGHT" need surgery... (1 Viewer)

Says Delhomme migh need surgery, if that were to happen then I would think he might be useless in redraft leagues. I know its a little early to go and do this, but maybe just cutting Delhomme and putting Carr on the roster is not such a bad move after all. I own Delhomme in a lot of leagues, my problem is he really my QB2 behind the likes of Matt Hasselbeck, Brett Favre, Big Ben, those middle round types we all went after.

Carolina has a very nice soft pass schedule...I would hate having to lean on Carr a whole heckuva lot but at this point in the season there really isn't a whole lot on that WW...and pretty soon we are going to be looking at guys like Brodie Croyle, Cleo Lemmon perhaps, it just starts getting ugly. If he is out this week and next, then surgery...doesn't seem like a good scenario.

But it would help the other receivers , cause Delhomme was strictly throwing the ball to Smith.

NOOOOOOO MOP! He has been oustanding, great schedule, did all my homework SOD for QBs so far. I had it all figured out! NOOOOOOOOOO!

This is like a new writeup in that paper on old news... I read Delhomme's comments abouty only him knowing etc. like 3 days ago I think.

Don't get to worked up folks, I don't think this is new news as much as it a newspaper putting spin on a subject its readers are interested in.

I own Carr not Delhomme, so I am not saying its no big deal for the wrong reasons, it just seems like the paper is stirring the pot a bit to me.

I know everyone is saying Smith's value goes in the toilet if Delhomme is out, but I don't necessarily think this is the case. If you look back at Houston they didn't do all that well as a team, but Andre Johnson had some great years with Carr throwing to him.

2004: 1142, 6TD

2005: hampered injury

2006: 1147, 5TD

These TD totals are much less than Smith's, but AJ has less of the break away strength and speed compared to Smith. The important point to note here is that Carr can obviously get the ball to a WR, and he too is used to focusing on one great WR in the offense.

Yes Andre did 'ok' for what he has the potential to do but you have seen in the 1st 2 weeks what happens when Carr is NOT the QB. More TD's. and BIG TD's.

I think that short-term SS takes a hit. By the end of season Carr will be on the Smith-train and throwing to him like crazy. Delhomme had nothing to do with SS bouncing through that pile of defenders and taking it all the way down the field. The result of that play would have been the same with Carr, a long TD.

I think SS will help Carr more than Carr hurts SS. (Ok, ok, I'm a SS owner...this is more of a prayer than anything else)

Yeah, Carr can't throw the ball 5 yards to Smith and let him run 65 like Jake does.

Jake has not even been ruled out of todays game as of yet.
He hasn't thrown a ball since the injury.
Do you think he forgot how to throw? I dont think Westbrook has ran the ball since last week either.
*sigh*For the benefit of others:

STARTING LINEUP

How is Carolina's O-Line? Carr spent a lot of time on his behind with that Texans O-Line.

TB Def could be a very sneaky play this week for those in need of a bye week starter

This is more true than you might expect. The thing that makes short passes effective for a receiver like Smith is having perfect timing. If the throw is off, he has to adjust to catch it, instead of adjusting to get past the first defender. Carr definitely will not have as good timing with Smith as Delhomme does.

I'm freaking a little guys. Any word on this surgery deal with Delhomme? QBs are getting thin on the WW and I'm forced to start Garcia this week. Trent Green is still available.

Delhomme hasn't mentioned any surgery, nor has Fox.

Thanks for the inside word there. Is there a real possibility he may need surgery? I mean he wasn't even touched on the play the elbow went out right? I know I'm freakin a little. He's done so well for me and got him late in the draft as my number 1 QB so please understand my concern here  I'm still trying to keep in the tears ;)

He hurt his elbow when he was sacked. He was playing on it hurt, and the pain started getting worse, so he took himself out of the game. He said there are different scenerios on the strain, but they really just don't know right now. He has said that it is feeling better, but he hasn't tried to throw on it yet.

Thanks guy! I'll give him this week to get it together. If not, I have to readjust my lineup.

Watching Jay Glazer on Fox, he said Delhomme re-aggravated this elbow injury and that he and Fox decided not to have surgery on it in this past off-season. He also said it's likely he'll have surgery at some point, but whether it comes after this season or during noone really knows yet.
