I like what Ive seen the last 8 games from DeW, his deep ball tracking skills are effortless and he's one of those deceptively fast guys like a Chad Johnson, the thing that is killing his value right now, is Steve McNair, McNair has no touch on the deep ball and constantly miss throws to him, people in your league will look at his pedestrian stats and think its just because he's not that good which is simply not the case. I think you'll see a large uptick in production after Boller takes over in 2-3 weeks and considering he's on pace for 732 yards its not a stretch that he might pass 1K with Boller at the helm

I have to agree. That offense (McNair?) is killing those WR values. Mark Clayton probably has some of the best hands and is very good at getting separation. The time is now to buy on these guys. Especially in dynasty.

I would think a Shaun McDonald for Mark Clayton type trade would be possible right now.

Interesting -- I've been holoding on to Clayton like grim death, hoping that he will eventually turn it around, but at this point I was thinking of dropping him outright for a waiver WR on the rise, or even for Demetrius Williams himself.Thing is, Clayton has incredible talent, and we've all speculated he would thrive as the #1 WR in BAL regardless of who was throwing the ball. Theory went, as soon as he is over his injury, he would eventually regain his status as "the guy" - or at least give Mason a good run for his money. But we're 4 weeks in, and he simply hasn't done anything. In terms of injury and his performance, I prescribe to the theory that one week is an anomaly, two weeks is a trend, and three weeks is hard cold fact. Right now, waiver guys liek Crayton, Furrey, and lower tier WRs like Toomer and Greg Jennings seem to have much more value than Clayton.I'm having trouble letting go, believing as I do in Clayton -- maybe you can convince me otherwise, but at this point in the season, it's better to hold on to a guy like McDonald.

Clayton is still trying recover from his injuries. Clayton is already the #1 receiver in Baltimore when healthy, their own depth chart even states so. Also, he has much more receiving yardage even last year than Mason or Heap.

Not denying that he may be the best receiver on Baltimore -- the fact is he hasn't been this year. How long are you willing to carry him until he's 100%? It's been 4 weeks, and there is no indication that I've read that he is totally healed or a timetable to when he will be back at full speed. Even when he does come back at 100%, nothing is given, as Mason seems to not be fading into that good night, and Williams has been a playmaker, albeit consistently so.

yeah,...McNair is not exactly playing like 5/6 years ago BUT cmon......Kyle Boller ;)

are you kidding me ?

This guy sucked for his entire career, the only upgrade with Boller will be....more carries for McGahee

Baltimore needs a real QB and the answer is NOT Boller.......

new QB > Mcnair > Boller

Start him w. confidence this week Boller has the arm to reach him and Buffalo is giving up the third most amount of FPs per game.

I've been trying to scout Demetrius and am considering a trade offered which would send him to in a dynasty league. Although really don't know much about him yet. Does anybody have any more info on the guy? ie. His 40 time, his "hands", and his football smarts... I remember seeing him play at Oregon and burning Michigan for a long TD, but that's really it.Is Derek Mason going to be getting six million targets again next year? Or will the younger guys have a bigger role in the offense?Any thoughts on the long-term prognosis of Baltimore WRs would be appreciated. :goodposting:

Anything short of the AFC Championship, maybe even Super Bowl, and you'll have a changing of the guard there.

McNair can't start another year. Mason's there this year in all likelihood because McNair is (Mason wanted out all last offseason; and though he's had a nice year, I believe Clayton&Williams will soon be the WR tandem). It'll either be Boller or FA/draft pick in Baltimore next year (my guess right now Boller given he'll earn $3 mil)

I finally dropped him in my redraft league this week for DJ Hackett - I was interested to see what he would do with Boller at QB against a weak D like the Bills. The problem was that it seemed like Williams wasn't even on the field very often as the Ravens didn't run all that many 3 WR sets. Mason and Clayton got a lot of looks.

I still like his dynasty prospects, but I don't see much there in redraft.

Sigmund Bloom and I just did a trade in a 16-team deep dynasty PPR and IDP league, which weights PPR towards WR's and even moreso towards TE's. There's also no flex with WR's, so you're always starting 3.I gave up:Chris BrownLendale WhiteAdrian Wilson2008 3rd rounderHe gave up:Kevin KolbDemetrius WilliamsLaron Landry2008 1st rounderFurther notes: His team is strong now and competing this year for a championship; mine's 4-3 but that record is an illusion as I have severe depth issues at QB (Bulger, Carr :headbang: ) and am shaky at WR (Colston, C. Henry, J. Porter, Randle El, Hagans, Baskett) and I'm relatively strong at RB . . . or more accurately will be next year (LT, Ronnie Brown, L. Booker, ATrain). Anyway, Williams was a major feature of this trade for me as I expect him to break out next year once the QB situation becomes more settled with McNair gone, and hopefully Mason gone too.

I like Demetrius ALOT. IF you don't know his game I would say a skinnier more acrobatic WR Chris Henry.

Hes got it all to be at a minimum WR2 for you squad. The McNair to Mason combo is what killing the team IMO. Truth is McNair cant throw the ball accurately more than 25 yards anymore and Masons too old to get beyond 25 yards on a 5 step drop, so it makes a great formula for the geriatric passing game. Mason runs little hooks and slants for 6 yards a clip, and might break and occasional one for 15-20 yards.

If Boller can get in there for consecutive games under his belt, I think he can improve and get in stride with the better more explosive WR's in Clayton and Demetrius deeper down the field.

Thanks guys. For all the thoughts and insight. FWIW: I ended up accepting the trade offer which sent my Wes Welker (who isn't contracted in our league and will be a Free Agent to be bid upon next season) for Demetrius (who is under contract thru '09 along with an '08 2nd round pick. My team is 2-5 and going nowhere this season so hopefully he helps out next year. Welker is the #5 overall WR in our league and will help the guy I traded with a lot if Brady keeps up his mad pace. Now I've got to learn how to spell 'Demetrius' without looking... should be easier than Houshmandzadeh, which took me two years to master. GO D.W.!!!

Good call under those circumstances.
