Denver is in sole possession of 1st place (1 Viewer)

Devil's Advocate
Obviously, I'm no fan of the Broncos.

But good for McDaniels. He's eaten so much #### from everyone since he got the job.

I have to give Nolan credit. He's turned their D around and made them competitive.

That said, they were handed a miracle last week. They beat the Browns at home, which most of us saw coming. Let's see how they play against some top tier teams.

Loving the Broncos defence, playing and looking great. Letting every team they played the previous years scoring 20+ points almost every week wasn't fun to see.

Ya, I don't know if we needed a week 2 thread singling Oakland's in sole possession of 1st place, especially considering their 2 opponents but at least they're winning those game.
huh?
I was thinking and typing at the same time, thinking of who I was replying to. Apprently a dangerous thing for me after watching all this football.

AFC West is BAD; NFC West is equally bad. Wow the west is bad this year when a horrible SF team and a horrible Denver team lead their respective divisions.

If you think this San Francisco team is horrible, you haven't watched this San Francisco team.

Did he make their schedule?
you said "good for SMUGDaniels", good for what ??they scored 3 points in 59:30 minutes against the Bengals and they beat a 1-15/0-16 team @home
Actually they scored 6 points, and should of had a FG, but Orton took a sack. And Cincy scored with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. So really it was a pretty even game. Then Cincy went on the road this week and smoked GB whom a lot of people think are a playoff team. So maybe that Cincy win was a little bit more impressive than you are giving it credit for. As far as the Browns game. Yes the Browns suck, but Denver killed them. Like good teams do. So just because you dislike McDaniel's so far he has the Broncos playing better overall as a team than they did last season.

too soon to say that. At this point last year (and the year before that too), they were 2-0 w/ some fluky wins too (Hoculi game last year, fluky FG wins vs oak & BUF in '07).If McD can get the Broncos to play well ib dec, then we'll have something.

I think so far the Team is doing better. Look the Offense carried Denver in the wins and the Defense was no where to be found. So far the Defense has been leading the defense. Look I still don't think Denver makes the playoffs, but I do feel better that we will be somewhat respectable.

I agree...lots of tough sledding ahead, obviously. But it's good to see the team get out on the right foot after all the crap they caught this off season.

At least get your fact straight if you are going to spew this garbage. They had 6 points until about the 59:56 mark or so against the Bengals. to a 2-0 start under "Smugdaniels." 2-0 is 2-0, no matter how you slice it.

That's fair. i'm also encouraged in that I have more confidence that the O will find their way in 2009 than I did that the D would find their way in 2008.

lolcomparing SF and Denver is like comparing a BMW to a Smart
Wow, what a super guy! We'll go ahead and enjoy things now. The defense is so much better and I believe the offense will get better as well as the season goes on. The brutal part of the schedule is looming and things probably won't be as much fun in week 8 as they are now, but who knows? Bill Simmons said the Broncos go 10-6 and make the playoffs......you never know.

Just remember - they were 2-0 and in sole possession of 1st as this time last year. And the QB that led them there is a loser crybaby who has never won anything in his life. It's early. :excited:

What would you have him do? Cancel the games against Cincy and Cleveland and petition the league office to get Pitt and New England, instead? He's coached two games. He's won both of them. The best possible outcome of two games is 2-0, and he achieved it. There was talk about how Denver would be lucky to get 4 wins this season, and he's already halfway there.

Actually, they scored 6 points in 59:30 against the Bengals. And you somehow find this relevant, but don't find it relevant that the Bengals scored 0 points in 59:15 against the Broncos. At the end of the year, all that matters is how many you scored and allowed in 60 minutes, not 59:15, not 59:30. And 13-7 on a last-second TD counts just as much as 49-0.

I think the Bronco's D will keep them competitive. Sort of the opposite of last year.I'll be amazed if they have a winning record this season, let alone make the playoffs. Week 4,5,6 they play Dallas, NE, and San Diego. We'll have a good gauge of them by the end of week 6. I'd guess they'll be 3-3 then.I'd guess they'll end up 5-11. They have a pretty rough schedule this year.

None of those teams are the '85 Bears. This is shaping up to be a crazy season. Anyone can win if the "better" team doesn't play well.

Next week @ oakland will be a tough game - their first real test. Divisional games are (almost) always competitive, and I think the raiders match up better vs Den than Cin or Cle do - Zach Miller and McFadden can both exploit Denvers weakness, which is LB's in pass D.
