Denver Returning to 4-3 (1 Viewer)

Dumervil at least should be back at DE. Possibly Ayers as well?
According to John Fox-Joe Mays or Mario Haggan will man the middle, DJ Williams at the WILL, and Haggan or Wesley Woodward at the SAM. Dumerville and Ayers will be the DE's. It is expected that Ayers will be LDE and Dumerville will be RDE.

I would guess that Mays or Haggan would be the pickup here, then? Color me unimpressed with either option, although any starting MLB is usually roster-worthy.

So has DJ played WLB in a 4-3 before? Why wouldn't he still be their MLB, I thought he thrived as the Mike? I think he played SLB one year, and his statistics really showed it too. I've had him for awhile now and if his value is going to drop (and DUI may still lead to a suspension next year), maybe it's time to move him to an unsuspecting owner?

As Long as Fox is running the same defense as was in Carolina, WLB is a nice position to be at. See Thomas Davis of 2008 and early 2009.

I think that's a valid argument, though the Carolina WLB spot wasn't consistently effective until Thomas Davis. Will Witherspoon had his moments, though most came during the stretches when Dan Morgan was lost to injury and Witherspoon was the only impact linebacker left on the roster. Jesse Armstead was an IDP stud under Fox in New York as an OLB. Ron Meeks had a lot to do with the value that Davis and Anderson had over the past two seasons, too. I think Williams' upside is dependent on what kind of player the Broncos have at MLB.
crap I thought Ayers was a RDE...Do production differ between RDE and LDE in a John Fox 4-3
Ayers could probably play either side. He's probably a better fit on the strong side. I wouldn't worry too much about the difference between the RDE and LDE positions in any 4-3 scheme. I'd consider skill set, base and subpackage roles and snap percentages before considering RDE v LDE distinctions. There are just as many stud LDE (Tuck, Johnson, Mathis, Peppers) as RDE (Allen, Cole, Umenyiora) as those who move around the formation (Suggs, Williams).
