Denver would have beaten Seattle with Plummer (1 Viewer)

I think the Broncos may have beaten the Seahawks had Plummer started but we will never know. Plummer hasn't exactly been John Elway this season...

This has really been beaten to death in the myriad of other Denver implosion threads.

I think the general consensus outside of a core of homers is that Plummer would have won this game. Of course, noone will know for sure. All we know is that Cutler definitely lost it.

This should be a poll.. Denver would have won with Plummer at QB and Walker would have put up 100+ yds and a touch...

I honestly have not read any other Cutler vs. Plummer threads. When this drama began, both players were on other rosters.

I saw the entire game last night, and I saw the entire team make mistakes. The fake FG at the end of the half, and letting the clock wind down had me scratching my head.

Cutler made some really bad mistakes. But he was not the only one. Smith fumbling for the first time in ages was not Cutler's fault.

If any argument can be made that Plummer would have won that game, it was the returned INT for a TD. But as it has pointed out in this thread, it is all speculation.

I tend to think this team was and is headed nowhere regardless of QB if the rest of the team cannot stop making mistakes. The fumbles kept the Seahawks in the game. Denver was giving up the yardage that Seattle needed.

Anyway, just my opinion, which probably has been better, said elsewhere.

Rod Smith hadn't fumbled since 13 Nov 05, Mike Bell put his first one on the ground and the Broncos fumbled a punt return...

Yeah, clearly Plummer would have changed that.

No one knows for sure what Plummer would have done, but he didn't win the SD or KC game when given a chance. In KC, the last Bronco play of the game sailed over a wide open Rod Smith who was beyond the first down marker on a 4th down play.

I'm not sure why people think Jake would finally show up to play last night and stop throwing more INTs than TDs this year (12 vs. 11).

It is possible that Plummer may have won last night's game. However, what is clear is that Denver is not going to win the Super Bowl this season with either QB. Shanahan needed to get Cutler in and get him ready for next season. Otherwise he would be going through all those growing pains next season. He is the future of the franchise and I think they would rather begin their future in 2007 than in 2008 after Cutler worked through getting acclimated to the NFL. He can start doing that now and he will not be as raw next season. I think this is the right thing to do.

I think not only would Denver had won, but they proved another point. Cutler's stats are very....I mean very similar to the type of stats Plummer put up before. Not talking about the rookie play and the INT Cutler threw, but overall the # if TD's and yards. Might I dare say that it led me to believe that Skeletor might be the problem and not Plummer. Hmmm....could it be play calling and not the play of the QB?

I think the play calling has been a big problem. But, is the play calling scaled back because of Plummer or is it because Kubiak is gone?Regardless, it's not a glowing endorsement to a 10-year vet to say a rookie starting his first game had very similar stats as the vet has had all year. You gotta think the rookie will at least improve with more playing time.

but one guy is making his 1st career start on national TV and the other is a 10 year vet. That's not saying a lot for Plummer. Cutler made a bunch of mistakes, made some bad throws, got away with a few more but I did see potential on a few of those throws that Plummer could never do if his life depended on it. The kid has a rocket for an arm and a gunslinger/risk taker type mentality. He paid for a couple of those decisions yesterday but it was his 1st game...shoot look at Grossman.

IMHO, the game hinged on a couple of key plays, none more important than the TD on the interception. I don't believe Jake would have thrown the ball there, but I think Denver was still in position to win the game. The inability to make key 3rd downs to keep the defense off the field probably had more to do with the outcome. Denver has lost several games at the end do to a tired, overworked D. I'm not sure they can make those 3rd down conversions with either QB. Walker is a very good WR, but he can't help his QB the way TO can help Romo or Holt can help Bulger. The TE's are below average, the rest of the WR's are marginal, and the line is beat-up. Finally, and maybe most important, is the fact that Denver can't seem to keep Tatum on the field. It seemed that each time he came off, disaster struck, whether it was a fumble, or a missed block. There's definitely something to the theory that Tatum can't carry the load, and it's really hurting the team.

I still think there's hope as I believe Cutler will improve, but he needs alot more help than he got last night.

The Broncos certainly would have had a chance to win last night if Plummer was in there.

As a Broncos fan, though, that doesn't really bother me.

Cutler is going to be the Broncos QB, barring injury, for at least the next 3 years and knowing that Denver isn't going to win the Super Bowl this year (Indy, SD, and KC losses), let's get Cutler some big time experience so he'll be ready to make a run next year or the year after.

Plummer would not have been that careless
It is quite possible that Devner would have won with Plummer in there and not Cutler...but this is one of the dumbest statements i've ever heard...the guy who threw the ball with the wrong hand from his own goal line would not have been that careless...priceless!
