Derrick Ward switching agents (1 Viewer)

Free agent Derrick Ward will reportedly switch player reps to Drew Rosenhaus by "as soon as tomorrow."

Rosenhaus is a deal maker, but he won't settle for whatever low-ball offer the Giants make Ward. Ward wants $4 million a year from his next team. Arizona, Cleveland, Denver, Philadelphia, and Houston could all give Ward a look. Feb. 16 - 2:09 pm et
Ward Switching AgentsWith Jacobs getting the franchise tag and Ward wanting a starting spot, there are a few good teams that could use him. What is everyone's thoughts on him during FA? Where would you place his value?

I personally think Arizona and Denver would be the best case scenario for Ward, but don't know that the switch to Rosenhaus will help him land a starting spot so much as it will to land him the most money. As a Ward owner, I'm hoping for Arizona or Denver, possibly Cleveland or Houston as well...

Wherever he signs he'll want a chance to start, deservedly so. He has been a very good back the past two years, he is strong and catches the ball well. I see Arizona, Denver, Seattle and possibly Tampa as landing spots for him. I would be shocked if he found his way to either Philly or Houston.

It might not be ideal from a fantasy perspective, but from an NFL perspective he would be a great fit in PHI. I hope they don't sign him...

I would keep in mind that I highly doubt Rosenhaus would take him on if he didn't feel he could get him a nice paycheck. A guy like Rosenshaus does his homework and I wouldn't be surprised if he already has some options lined up or at least out on the table. And you don't often get nice paychecks as a FA by being a backup. Read into those thoughts what you will.....

TOP 3Tampa Bay Buccaneers $42M

Arizona Cardinals $41M

Denver Broncos $34M

THE REST

Houston Texans $25M

Philadelphia Eagles $25M

Cleveland Browns $17M

Seattle Seahawks $9M

Personally hope to see him stay in NY, but with Rosie circling the wagons he's outta there... and wherever the money is...

he was gone the day the season ended. the Giants weren't going to pay him and Jacobs... So now Ward tries to get a job, the earlier post that said Rosenhaus wouldn't take him on unless he thought he could help him is spot on. i think rosenhaus knows there is a market, and I wouldn't expect anything less than a starter's job somewhere. this reminds me a lot of the Chester taylor situation a few years ago.

Think he'd be a great replacement for Edge in Arizona (and relegate Hightower to backup/possibly short yardage status) or for Larry Johnson if he actually finds a way to leave KC (which you can bet Drew has a finger on the pulse of) . . .

from rotoworld:

Appearing on the Jim Rome Show Wednesday, free agent Derrick Ward mentioned the Browns, Texans, and Cardinals as potential landing spots.

Ward offers rare three-down ability, fresh legs, and is coming off a season in which he averaged 5.6 YPC. He talked about playing with Steve Slaton and would be a clear upgrade over Jamal Lewis or Edgerrin James. All three clubs have enough cap room to meet Ward's $4M-per-year asking price.
