Derrick Ward (1 Viewer)

Giants declared WR Steve Smith, S Craig Dahl, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, OL Adam Koets, DE Dave Tollefson, DT Manny Wright, QB Jared Lorenzen, and OG Kevin Boothe inactive for Monday night's matchup.

Smith is getting closer after practicing some during the week and may return prior to the Giants' Week 9 bye. Lorenzen appears to have fallen behind Anthony Wright permanently. Plaxico Burress and Derrick Ward are active. Oct. 15 - 7:04 pm et

Has anyone heard if the carries will be 50/50 split between him and Jacobs or not?
I wouldn't expect it to be 50/50 since Jacobs was more productive last week. Jacobs was the starter before injury and you don't lose your job because of injury.

Last week Ward turned his ankle. The split wasn't as Coughlin planned it out. See this week's pressers for info.I think Jacobs gets more carries simply because he's better

Status is looking great now that the golden princess Jacobs is hurt -- again.
He's back.
Where? It's been all Ward. Jacobs is nothing more than an occasional 3rd down blocking back. Ward is getting all the work and Droughns is short yardage. No doubt about it, this job belongs to Ward, with Droughns as the SD/GL RB.
6 carries, 5 yards for Ward. Yea, he's the man.
He's playing and he's getting the ball. Jacobs isn't.

IMO Ward is the one in on passing downs and they've been passing alot

Jacobs "starts" each half and then goes to the bench the rest of the way. After Jacobs missed a block in that series, he was out and Droughns was in instantly. BJ is probably done for the night.

This is a confusing thread. What's all this talk about Ward? Jacobs is 10/75 right now, and Ward is 6/5 according to NFL.com. How is Ward anything but the third-best runner on the team tonight? :lmao:

Dude, what game are you watching? :lmao:

Jacobs limping again. :lmao:

ETA: just when I thought it would be safe to drop Ward.

Note to self, never listen to anything H.K. says.
 Jacobs barely even played in the second half. Every other active Giant RB managed to score a TD but him, too.

The game was well in hand, they had no reason to run Jacobs out their if he was dinged up. He ran 13 times for 86 yards, those arent the type of numbers that will lose your job. I dont believe his stinger or ankle appear to be that serious.

I own Ward in several leagues and no I do not own Jacobs. Picked him up that second week on the WW and got some great games out of him. It was great while it lasted. As long as jacobs stays healthy ward is not going to be startable most weeks.

Jacobs is the better overall runner no doubt. Problem is he get's hurt a ton and will continue to get hurt all year. He is just so big and runs with so much power and speed that he will not last an entire season. I have never seen a back has large as Jacobs.

Ward did not look very impressive last night but he also did not get a ton of work. He is a better reciever and that's pretty obvious. He will be valuable again this season as Jacobs is bound to get hurt again.

It is a shame for Jacobs because he is a Mack truck with great speed. Scary how much damage he can do but also at the same time he is a huge injury risk.

I talked to Coughlin this morning and he said it would be 57/43. But then after I hung up I realized that he didn't say who got the 57 and who got the 43!
So it turns out it was a 53/47 split. My bad.

How much time has he missed already this season "dinged up."? He's back for a game and a half and misses more time?

Ward was also playing injured last night. He has looked pretty good in other games I have watched. I do not know how much the ankle is beginning to affect him.

Very good point, he did not have the burst he had shown in previous weeks at all. Either way Ward has shown he can carry the load when asked. Jacobs is no doubt very gimpy to say the least and Ward will be counted on to play a significant role as the Giants are showing they are a contender for the NFC east.
