Derrick Ward (1 Viewer)

forget where I drafted this guy in a PPR league in August (5th round)....he's obviously been a major bust so far

I was at least hoping to use him as a bye-week fill-in but he had what, 2 touches last week?

What is going on with Ward in Tampa? He can't be happy and I'm surprised he's not getting the ball considering the money they paid him.

Caddillac looks to have all the touches there. Not sure why they gave Ward that money. One of the oddest uses of money I've ever seen (thus far).

I think they didn't know if Caddy would be healthy or regain his burst. He appears to be in pretty good shape so he's getting the majority of touches. With Caddy you always need a good plan B.

Any hope? Outside of a Caddy injury I'd say no. I'm a Ward owner and had high hopes. I figured worst case was a RBBC. After this past week (1 att for 2 yds) I don't see how you can have a sniff of optimism.

He's still a talented enough guy that I say he's a hold in dynasty leagues, but the situation in Tampa doesn't look good no matter who's is running the ball for them. But a comittee back on a struggling team, that is almost always going to be behind, has BAD written all over it. However, after the Josh Johnson experiment is over, I don't expect the josh Freeman experiment to be any better. In fact, I think it'll actually be worse. So he is droppable at this point. I just wouldn't drop him unless there's a player a really like.

Very odd. But consider these are the Glazers. They threw elite TE money at Kellen Winslow. They franchised Antonio Bryant, (still a waste of $10 million IMO). They were saved from themselves by losing in the Haynesworth lottery. They paid thier incumbent QB $2.5 million as a signing bouns, and then trade him away for a 7th rounder right before the season started. Only to find out after 3 weeks that they maybe chose the wrong QB. They are paying thier current head coach less than their old head coach who is collecting his paychecks on the road calling Monday Night Games.Very odd, the Glazers. I have no answer for thier actions. As for Ward, it safe to drop him. He is nothing more than a handcuff for Caddy.

I'm in a pretty deep 16 team league and I mistakenly drafted Ward pretty high. I've just been able to trade him and I think I got a ridiculously good deal.

My rb's: Addai, Mike Bell, Caddy Williams, McCoy

WR: Ocho, Collie, Avery, Washington, Northcutt.

I was able to trade Ward, drop Chansi Stuckey and I received Sidney Rice and Jermichael Finley.

Good deal, or am I missing something?

you forgot the $$ they threw at Mi. Clayton too. LOLWard is done for this year unless until Caddy gets dinged and even then he will be limited by a dysfunctional offense with below average WRs and young/bad QBs

Finally dropped him this week. BIG disapointment this year.

I drafted him in round 6 and thought he'd be a good RB3/low end RB2.

We have a 6 player bench so he warmed it enough and now he's gone!

He signed with the wrong team. Bucs made a big investment in Williams as well, and probably feel obligated to give him most of the carries. I've only watched 2.5 Bucs games, but I think it's fairly obvious, to me at least, that Ward still has more talent than most NFL RB's, and deserves more carries. Good talent, horrific situation. I'd hold in a dynasty/keeper and hope that the Bucs release him or Williams in the off-season.

due to a nasty bye-week/injury situation (SJax, Shonn Greene, Avery on bye, Leon Washington injured), I will be forced to start the following 3 RBs in a 14 team PPR league:

Ward

Felix Jones

Donald Brown

I may actually play Kevin Faulk instead of Ward (!). I actually traded for Ward for this game, gave up Glen Coffee to the Gore owner last week.

This week might be very rough.

He did get slightly more carries that Caddy last game. Maybe the switch to Freeman will translate into more touches for Ward?
