DeSean Jackson...getting no respect... (1 Viewer)

For some reason I have this sense that Mcnabb isnt too fond of Jackson.
My God, this same kind of nonsense is going on in the Celek threads. The Eagles spread the ball around. That's what they do. They have lots of offensive weapons. Just because McNabb doesn't throw much to one guy during one game doesn't mean he hates the guy and will never throw to him again. You cannot expect consistent studly fantasy production out of ANYONE on the Eagles. If you do, you haven't been paying attention to how they run their offense.

What was that stat that was posted during the MNF game, more than half of his career TD are +60 yards?

I made a fresh batch of DeSean Jackson Kool Aid

I think they said he set a record for 60+ yd TD plays through the 1st 7 weeks of the season or something. I'm sure they are including his returns in that number.

So tell me why anyone believed that Royal was supposedly better than DeSean? Maybe the lesson is that systems don't make you great, greatness makes you great....royal < 10ypc (again) while deSean > 20ypcLast year during the Eddie Royal hype I believe I stated that DeSean is 5x the player that Royal is. I admit I was wrong. It's only about 3x......Playing in Andy Reid's attack, DeSean will be a stud playmaker for years to come and the 1(a) to Maclin's 1(b).....Coming Soon: The next Torry Holt and Ike Bruce type of duo in the NFL. Playing QB should be easy for an Eagle. That's right I almost forgot, Kolb looked very good, so yeah, it is easy.

:lmao: Well, I'm not sure who all those people who thought Royal was better are. Jackson is the real deal though.

So it is now entering week 10. Please explain this to me (per fanball):

DeSean Jackson : Eagles to get ball to Jackson

11/11/2009 09:23 AM

THE NEWS

The News Journal is reporting that the Eagles will focus on getting the ball in the hands of dynamic playmaker DeSean Jackson this week. Jackson caught only two balls for 29 yards in last week's loss to the Cowboys.

OUR VIEW

Jackson has been all-or-nothing this season, but fantasy owners can't complain. He has proved to be one of the most exciting players in the league, so look for a major bounce-back performance this week against the Chargers.

Why on EARTH would a team come out in week 10 and say something like this about their best playmaker? Why wouldn't this be the game plan all year?

Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? It's pretty obvious this guy has been the Eagles best playmaker all year. It's kind of funny to picture the Eagles' coaches all sitting around talking about what went wrong in the Dallas game and one of them suggests "Hey how about that Jackson kid, he's been doing ok, maybe we should get the ball to him!" :goodposting:

:PAs an Eagles fan I really wonder why he doesn't get the ball more. IMO he should be getting at least 7-10 targets a game.

Maybe Philly should adopt the old 'Randy Ratio'... oooops, NV.

It definitely hurts that Westy isn't in the backfield to draw attention. Shady is going to be awesome, but he's not demanding the respect Westy does/did yet. I think DJax will continue to be up and down, but more up than down on most weeks.

At the very least they should throw him 2-3 bubble screen passes a game. Put the ball in his hands and see if someone misses.

I'm going to go out there a little further on the limb than most, but in PPR leagues since week 5 when Maclin took over for Curtis, Maclin is slightly leading DeSean in fantasy points (25th in ppg versus 26th). Maclin seems to be getting more targets than DeSean. Maclins targets are mostly underneath the coverage, but he get his share of downfield shots too. DeSean is just the opposite it seems. He is getting less looks, but most of his targets are setup for a big play. When its 3rd down and 7 yds to go, it appears Maclin or Celek are the guys being targeted.

My "out there" prediction is that Maclin will continue to lead DeSean in fantasy point the rest of the year and potentially next season as well in PPR leagues. I can't yet tell if I think Maclin will ever be a stud fantasy receiver, but he appears to be someone that could at least emerge into a solid fantasy WR2/3 with decent week to week consistency. DeSean on the other hand seems to be a boom/bust WR2/3 at beast and will make or break your week frequently.

DeSean on pace for 52/1060/8

Maclins 5-week pace projected out (as a starter) would be 61/934/10

I'm sure things will change as both of the receivers are very young and still learning the game. Personally I have my money on Maclin for emerging as the better long term fantasy prospect.
