Desert Island Album Draft - 15th Anniversary Edition - 50 Rounds in the books, sign up now for KP's listening program (4 Viewers)

We had "Temptation" - was that your song, too?

Somehow I'm hearing Tears for Fears "Suffer the Children" now for the third time in a couple of hours of listening.  I do like this better than other Tears for Fears I'm familiar with so am happy to hear it...once, maybe twice.
I just rolled Age of Consent again.  Love it.

this is not important to this thread

but when did that ever stop any of us

watching stepbrothers, getting drunk and laughing our asses off

my wife enjoys this stuff as much as I do

This was my am playlist shuffle:

Stranded on Death Row -  Like I said - I just discovered that this album was on Spotify while doing research for this and was eyeing it up.  Like the song pick here.

My Shadow -  I really liked this one.  I think the dude's unfortunate name kept me passing over the album, but it got added to the research playlist

Big Poppa - love it.  Brought me back to the glory days of college and DJing at my friend's geeky engineering frat parties.  I had the most CDs, so I got the job by default.  Didn't help me with the ladies, but I had fun - this one was a nightly staple.

Dear Prudence - Didn't I already hear this ####in' song??  (I do love it though)

Red Hill Mining Town - one of the 3 albums I was thinking about at the 1.1, and this one have been one of my picks.  Love this tune and the transition to In God's Country.

Glory Box - I really wish I had pounced on this earlier.   Such a great song.

Brick (live) -  I like the live version more, but despite really liking this group this is one of those overplayed songs from college that I would just assume not hear again.

Willin' (live) -  fantastic.   I know some Little Feat and I think even drafted something from them in a draft along the way.   Added to the playlist because I really need to explore more, as everything I hear I like.

Love Vigilantes - Never heard this song, or more accurately probably have through my wife and just forgot because.  I guess I probably should tell her I liked it...

Guiding Light - I think I said it before, but I love this album when I hear it, but it's not in the rotation enough.   Added to the playlist....

**Oh yeah - take what you like, but you folks taking these live albums that are chopped up bits of concerts on a tours are cheaters.  These are GH albums.  ;).  **

Bob Marley and the Wailers LIVE!! (deluxe 1975)

It has the definitive version of No Woman, No Cry, which I modified into a lullaby for my often crying infant 20 years ago - no baby no cry. This is why she had a Bob poster on her wall over a decade, complete with a massive spliff in his mouf. Eeph's Jimmy Cliff pick was inspired whether for his gimmick or not. But after listening a few times to both, I like this more to bring island sounds to Live Island. It's an excellent recording - something else I am using to separate wheat from chaff. His name keeps popping up today, so

Burning and Looting

For me, a perfect punk album.

This is the single irreplaceable album I had to have.

Glory Box - lmao, that's a genre not a song.

Some of those live concerts were released on vinyl fwiw.

Honky Tonk Masquerade - Joe Ely - Definitely new to me and I really enjoyed it. Feeling the classic country more and more these days. Blame Sturgill

The Emporers New Clothes - Sinead O'Connor - I love old Sinead, new Sinead, bald Sinead, bald Sinead, any of them, she's great, so is this.

Havana Affair - Ramones - This just ####### slays, can't believe this fell so many rounds, guy who drafted it must be pumped.

What You Need - INXS - This playlist needs  more INXS IMO. Not even kidding This is What You Need, I'll Give You What You Need.

Welcome to Earth (Pollywog) - Sturgill Simpson - I swear I had the comment for Joe Ely typed out before this came on. Anyway, loooove it.

14.9 Good Kid M.A.A.D City by Kendrick Lamar (2012)

I wasn’t sure if I would take this since I always take it but isn’t that the point? It’s time for the best rapper of the generation to be taken, this is too far of a slide.

#####, Don’t Kill My Vibe

Backseat Freestyle
I was saving that one. That would have easily gone before some of the others. Figured you'd draft it. Almost sent you a PM saying simply "If you don't draft it, I will..." as a joke.

About time...

I feel just like I did when I was 12; I'd go to parties and just sit there and watch everyone else around me cavorting because I felt like I didn't know how to do it right.  Nice to know some things never change.

14.27: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Soundtrack - Assorted artists (2010)

This is one of the movies I get the most grief for in my house. I don't care.

For the Spotify list: Threshold and Garbage Truck.

14.xx  Pete Yorn - musicforthemorningafter (2001)

I've listened to this one a few times in the past 2 weeks in anticipation of picking it at at some point.  Thought probably later but no...

Another great aughts album.

Me and @The Andalusian Dog saw him touring this debut album and thought he was going to be a huge star.  Great songs/songwriter, great stage presence.

He never really reached the heights of this album again but has released some pretty good music over the years, including last year---my favorite album since MFTMA.

Matters not, IMO.  Just giving people a poke, but personally I wouldn't take something unless it was a full show - MAYBE something over 2 nights at the same venue.  I was just surprised as I was adding songs how many were songs from shows months or years apart.  That's basically a GH album.  Again, JMO.

Love Pete Yorn.  Makes me want to go bar-hopping in New Jersey.

Bands that I've drafted that I have also seen live.

Violent Femmes

Screeching Weasel

Green Day

.5 of the Doors (saw Riders on the Storm)

Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere) - Meat Loaf -  I'm a sucker for a Meat Loaf song, musical theatre for rock nerds or something. This is like 8 minutes long and held me through the entire thing, so it's way ahead of most of the 8 minute guitar wank off songs picked.

Led Zeppelin - Friends - Yes, this is in fact a Led Zeppelin song

Dead Man's Hand - Lord Huron - I really like this, I have a buddy who absolutely loves this band and we were planning on seeing them this year, not so much I guess.

Day Tripper - Otis Redding - !!!!  He was a daaaaaaay drinker!  Friday hammered yeah!

Cast No Shadow - Oasis - At 2:30, this song literally just repeats the first two minutes and 30 seconds that came before to make it a 5 minute song...

From my island:

Rage- no, was supposed to see them in July

Zeppelin - I wish

Jane's Addiciton - yes, July 2016

Simon & Garfunkel - I wish

Pearl Jam - yes, October 2014 - best show musically I have ever experienced

Bruce Springsteen - yes, February 2016, played The River front-to-back.

Sturgil - no, was supposed to see him in April

Tool - yes, 3 times. October 2002, May 2017, November 2019. The most recent one was the best show visually and sonically I have ever experienced.

The Doors - I wish

Billy Joel - yes, July 2017

Metallica - yes, February 2019

White Stripes - no, tell Jack and Meg it's time for a reunion

Green Day - yes, three times. July 2001, May 2005, and April 2015. The 2001 show was the most fun I've had at a show. And seeing that show the day before they were inducted into the hall of fame in a 500 person club was an experience I'll never forget.

Tenacious D - yes, April 2002. Jack Black is insane.
