Determining a Must Start (1 Viewer)

Hello

As I was reading through the posts I saw someone mention that a definition of a stud is the player who did the best the past 2 weeks.

One variable on a cheatsheet that I have always appreciated is the "always-start" column (the player that is never benchable). With this in mind I have a couple of questions:

1. What has to happen for a player to make your must-start list ?

2. What has to happen for a player to fall off your must-start list - when do you draw the line with regards to forgetting previous accomplishments?

With me it seems that a player can fall of the must-start list so much easier than getting on it. As a result I wonder if I am shooting myself in the foot at times trying to analyze a matchup.

My current must-start list is below. What does yours look like?

QB - Manning, Palmer, Brady, Kitna

RB - LT, LJ, SJAX, FWP, Gore

WR - S. Smith, CJ, Harrison, T.O, Wayne, Moss, R. Williams

TE - Gates, Winslow, Shockey

PK- Vinatieri

D - CHI, BAL

i'd consider more RBs and WRs than that to be must-starts (i've never owned a must start WR or TE, so i haven't thought about that as much)

RBs: i'd add addai, henry, westbrook, and probably alexander (the offense can move the ball so he's always a TD threat)

WRs: housh (since he should never be covered by champ bailey), javon walker (no champ factor there either), i wouldn't bring myself to bench holt or roy williams and i can't imagine too many situations that warrant benching a. johnson or driver either.

QB - Probably Bulger - Vince Young is getting close to the list, depending on your scoring

RB - I'd add Rudi Johnson.

TE - I'd add Gonzo (for a little while longer at least) and Heap - he just always seems to show up (assuming you don't have one of the other guys on the list)

K - for me it almost depends more on the weather. I like Vinatieri, but probably wouldn't start him if windy and rainy or snowy.

There's no such thing as a must-start. It's all relative. There are guys that are 99% starts or whatever given the conditions of the league and typical fantasy league set-ups but to ask about who are "must-starts" shows a lack of understanding of the fundamentals of match-up analysis.

Not sure it was my post, but almost sounds like it. I stated a few weeks (3-4) not a couple of weeks. Just saying if it was my post you read! The part I bolded in you post.

I agree with this one. A guy in my league in week 1 benched Carson Palmer and started Tony Romo. Tony then proceeded to give that owner 55 points. In week 2 he benched Romo after is opening performance and started Palmer, who ended up scoring 60 for him.
