DETROIT TIGERS OFFICIAL: We are decent!!!! (1 Viewer)

What a big win. After blowing a 2-run lead in the ninth they managed to get out of a second and third with no outs situation and then pull out the W in the 10th.

1 game plus tiebreak behind the Royals.
1/2 game plus tiebreak behind the twinkees who have a double-header tomorrow.
Huge win and a great catch by Sweeney to save the game.
They have been coming up big at key moments. It's been a while since late season games count for something. 🐯

Tigers win again, Twins lose first game of their doubleheader, if they lose tonight we'll be a game up, KC also lost, we're tied with them.

Let's ****ing go Tigers!!!!!!!

Six huge games to go. I would hope Tigers stadium is rocking for these.

For comparison the Micacle Mets were 10 games out of first on August 14. The Tigers were 10 games out of the wild card race on Aug. 11.

It will be. I am going Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers could not have asked for a better week. It is almost certain the last two playoff spots will go to either Detroit, KC or Minn. The last six games looks like this:

Detroit (82-74) at Home for two series against TB (78-78) and CHW (36-120). TB is hanging on to a remote chance at the last WC spot, but must pass two of these teams (MIN, Det, KC). They must go 5-1 to have any chance. CHW are historically the worst team in the modern era and will only be playing to keep their record of losses to a minimum.

KC (82-74) is on the road for series against WAS (82-74) and Atlanta (85-71). Despite their record WAS has little hope at a WC. Atlanta is 2 games behind the Mets and AZ for the last WC spot, so they could be highly motivated if they can pick up a game or two going into the series.

Minn (81-75) is at home against Miami (57-99) and Balitmore (86-70). Miami is playing for nothing but pride. Baltimore is pretty locked into being the WC#1 unless they win out or loss out they are not really playing for anything.

Minn may actually have the most favorable matchups based on being at home, one pathetic opponent and another opponent playing for nothing, but the Twins are a game behind and out of the playoffs currently. Detroit schedule is favorable, but they need to put the stake into the heart of TB who will put up a good fight. And then they play the Sox. KC is on the road and faces decent opponents but only one is hanging to to any playoff hopes. Not really a big advantage for any of the three teams given the current standings.

Head to Head:
Det vs KC. (6-7)
DET. vs. MINN (6-7)
Minn vs. KC (7-6)

On Aug 11 the Tigers had a 0.2 percent chance to make the playoffs. Going into the last six games, they give the Tigers a 71 percent chance.

Both the Twins and Royals are 1.5 run favorites tonight, so we might be lucky if we gain a game on one of them. The only plus side is both of them have been in a freefall lately.

Twins lose, Royals hang on and win.

Magic number is 4.

It's so much fun to be talking magic numbers here.

Magical number is at three.
Twins 2 GB
Seattle 2.5 GB

Tuesday's afternoon game attendance was 22,000. Attendance at last nights game was over 32,000, and by all accounts electric including a one Jameson Williams. Should be a really good crowd today despite being a weekday afternoon game. AJ Hinch has to be manager of the year if he can complete this playoff run successfully.

Great being at Comerica for an actual game that meant something. I always go to a few games a year but as of late it was just hanging out with some friends and not even watching the game.

Hard to believe at this time of year I kept checking the Twins score. Twins kept tying the game up and had runners on third in extras without scoring.

The 10th inning was the worst. The first 8 pitches to the Twins were balls, loading the bases with no outs. The Twins had a great comeback from being down 4-0 in regulation, but they missed more than a dozen opportunities to win the game in extra innings. Twin fans must be beating their heads at their implosion. Royal fans must be breathing a sigh of relief it was not them.

The Best Timing Award goes to Jason Benetti. Goes from a team about to set the MLB record for most losses in a season to a team making it's first playoff appearance in 10 years. 🏆

Surprised Hinch used Jobe with a 1-0 lead in the 7th. Too much for the kid as he beaned the first batter with first pitch.

Jobe had some less than awesome luck. After hitting the first batter he gave up a bloop single and a bunt single. Bases loaded and nobody out is a tough thing to work out of.
After the hit batter, Jobe made a lot of good pitches. I didn't have any problem with Hinch using him.

True, he did look jittery but the damage was minimal. It was a tough spot for his second appearance.

This was the first game all year my DVR ran out. I had it set to three hours and fifteen minutes and it went 3:45! Were they not using the pitch clock today? Other reason? I'll watch it later maybe. Congratulations!

I don’t know about that the whole team looked jittery when Jobe was in. McKinstry, Roger’s, Torkelson and Veirling all failed to make plays that inning.

Looking forward the Tigers won't bring back Skubal on just 3 days rest but game 2 & a possible game 5 are looking probable. Tigers will be back here one week from today.

I put $150 down on the Tigers 10 days ago to win the American League at +6500. The odds are down to +1000 now.
Hope you cash

Cashout is currently $1650. Tigers are now +380 to win ALCS. It is broken up into 2 bets, so I may cash out the $50 portion which is like $580. But I will roll with the $100 bet for the $6500. If they make it to the finals I will probably hedge a bit.

There's no way to sugarcoat the stink of game one other than they have their ace going Monday. To say it's a big game is an understatement.

Wasn’t their day. Cleveland put a stranglehold on them and didn’t let go. Skubal will need to carry them today.
