***Detroit Tigers thread: 1st pick yet again, this is not fun*** (5 Viewers)

^^You know what I mean. Crowd of 24k last night and 27k on Monday, not bad
Yeah I thought the crowd was normal for a Tuesday.  Tonight it's gonna be packed for the bobbles!!! I'm sitting in Left Center, never sat out there before.  If we don't like the view we can migrate towards season ticket location but I like to take in different views during the season.  I thought since I've become somewhat of a Nats fan I'd have trouble outwardly rooting for the Tigers, but that wasn't the case.

Castellanos on the bench today. Practically the only one hitting with any consistency. No excuse for it.
He is trying to save some of Nick's hits so we will have some available to snap their next seven game losing streak.

Besides, Nick is probably tired from having to jog around the bases after all the HR's he has been hitting.

Should have pulled Gose for Nick there.  That was their chance.  It was obvious Gose would strike out there.

McCann stinks at the plate this season.  Worse than Avila.

Ausmus should be fired before the next game.  Leaving Nick on the bench and hitting McCann is inexcusable.

My rage is elevating slowly. I was mad when he has Nick on the bench tonight, enough to call Brad a moron several dozen times before the game started. After leaving him on the bench with Max tearing us apart, I would be furious if Brad was my sons little league coach. Guy is the worst. I'd rather have them with Sparky coaching Weekend At Bernies style then this ####.

Got to talk with Jimmy ####### Leyland tonight for s bit. Talked Ausmus, Daniel Norris, Sparky, and the team's chances this year. Really cool. Plus got to see max k 20

So in Kerry Wood's 20k game, Ausmus was catching for the Astros and struck out twice. In Clemens's 20k game, he was catching for the Tigers and struck out once. And then yesterday, of course, he was the manager.

There have been 5 20k games in MLB history and Ausmus was involved in three of them.

More fun facts about this team:  Tigers are on pace for most strikeouts in a single season in team history.  The pitching staff also has the fewest strikeouts in MLB this season.

Let's blame Brad for 11 LOB in the first seven innings and every reliever allowing multiple hits.  I probably wouldn't have taken VerHagen out, but the rest is on the players.

JZilla described my conversation with Jim Leyland as "5 minutes of those two growling at each other."

I brought up the moron Detroit fans always wanting to fire the manager, him in particular.  I said I had issues with Brad but the team wasn't executing.  Jimmy said if we get to the All Star break at .500 we'll be just fine.  Brad's not the greatest but how people can blame him for what has occurred so far is pretty unfair IMO, the numbers prove me right.  Hitting is good one game, then dies for 4 games.  Starting pitching is great and the bullpen blows it or the team can't hit.  Starting pitching is bad, not much you can do about that.

1/5 into the season, it probably will get better.  Team is loaded, and just like Jimmy pointed out, "what about the ### #### World Champs?  They're right there with us."  He's gotta point.

ETA:  And I'm not talking about anyone in this thread, unless you were constantly #####ing about Jimmy in 2011, then yes...you're a moron.

Who is the leader on this team?  It seems like we don't have one and haven't had one since Hunter left.  Not a single player who can have a players only meeting to call his teammates out and get them to play better.

Not to say that is the cause of the problems because there are many but something like that is sorely needed right now and I don't think they have a player who is capable of doing that.  In the meantime they continue to be a complete dumpster fire.

I walked away from the game last night for a few minutes up 5-2, then came back, saw it was 7-5 and just chuckled.  Just a complete implosion.

The thing about Brad vs. Jim (and I had a lot of problems with him and a lot of hope with Brad) is that at least Jim got there a few times. Personally, I think Larussa schooled Jim in the series vs. the Cards and that Detroit was the better team. This team has too much talent to be playing like this even with the rotation issues. Last nights game was on the players but what is causing them to do it? What is causing Miggy to come off of 2nd with one out and they are primed for a big inning? That was stupid, he didn't get in a run down on purpose, he looked genuinely surprised when they cut it off. What were you going to do Miggy? Take 3rd? Give me a break. They make stupid, stupid mistakes that I wouldn't expect lower level teams to make and that falls on leadership because there is none.

Oh cool, a dumb base running error to end an inning. Who woulda thunk it? Almost like the clowns running the circus right now.

Sucks for JV, that's two straight terrific starts and they score a total of two runs for him.

If they had better leadership they would have won that, I'm sure of it.

I still think the major issue is team morale.  This ream is depressed and not always have their heads in the game. They sucked ### last year and it is happening again this year.  Brad may or may not be a source of the problem, but it is clear some major shakeup must happen.  At some point the manager has to take responsibility.

I just look at it as what's there to lose at this point. I doubt Brad will come back to haunt us and this will give a new guy a chance to see his team underperform.

I agree.  Why not give Vizquel and interim stint starting in MIN on Monday (where there should have a chance of winning a few)???
Vizquel came off horribly as a "leader" in Toronto (openly questioning managerial decisions etc...) but then again, the manager was Farrell so maybe there was something to it.

Outfielders are hitting a collective .217 this year, Miggy rolls into a easy DP with bases juiced, and the team has one hit through five innings against what is essentially a AAA pitcher.

So the Orioles had 3 hard hit balls off Sanchez in the 6th. Ausmus bringing him back out for the 7th is just inexcusable.
Sanchez was at 82 pitches and I'd rather have him out there than anyone in the pen at this point.  Sigh, this is a bad run...worst since 2008 which IMO was the worst season since 2005.

I would agree based on pitch count but they obviously figured Sanchez out in the 6th. Those 3 hits were all hit hard. I really don't get why he can't go deeper into games.
