Deuce McAllister vs Ahman Green - Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

Both have been Top 10 RB's in the past. Who has more value this year in redrafts?

Duece McAllister

1. New coach and new offensive system

2. Reggie Bush sharing backfield

3. More serious injury than Green

4. 4th round ADP

5. New starting QB

Ahman Green

1. New coach, new offensive system

2. Samkon Gado hype

3. 5th round ADP

I believe Green is the better value pick. He has always been a Favre favorite. Despite the Gado hype, he will be the unquestioned starter on the team if healthy. New blocking scheme should help him. He will stay in the game on third downs. He averaged 4 receptions a game last year.

First, the last time I checked GB's Oline was one of the worst in the NFL. A "new" blocking scheme will not work miracles with this group. Sorry. Also, Green may not get on the field until August/Sept. Way too long for me to take him before Deuce. Deuce would be my pick and it is not even close. Hell, I'd take Gado before Green at this point.

:goodposting: I really think Bush will be used all over the place this year. Put in motion to shift defenses, screens, line up as a WR at times. He will get carries, but since duece is there he will get the carries when Bush motions out.

Green will not benifit from GADO and there is a RBBC best case. He will not practice until September, and GB is learning a new system. Not getting the snaps at practice, and Gada getting them all will hurt his chances.

Green's season ending injury sounds alot better than Deuce's. Quadricept Tendon Tear, ouch. That's right up there with Ruptured Achilles Tendon

Deuce has a tremendous work ethic, and more talent around him. Plus, I think he's more talented that Green anyways. I'd give him the edge.

Green's injury, was far worse than McAllister's.Quadriceps or patellar tendon tear

If the quadriceps or patellar tendon is completely ruptured, a surgeon will reattach the ends. After surgery, the patient will wear a cast for 3 to 6 weeks and use crutches.....A partial or complete tear of a tendon requires an exercise program as part of rehabilitation that is similar to but less vigorous than that prescribed for ligament injuries. The goals of exercise are to restore the ability to bend and straighten the knee and to strengthen the leg to prevent a repeat injury. A rehabilitation program may last 6 months, although the patient can return to many activities before then.
pediatrics.about.com
Most patients can return to their previous occupations, but many cannot return to their preinjury activity level.

In a large study, Konrath and associates found that 83% of patients returned to their previous occupations, 51% were unable to return to their preinjury activity levels, and 53% had persistent quadriceps strength deficits (>20% compared with the uninjured leg).
Quadriceps Tendon Rupture - PrognosisSo in a study of patients with the same injury that Ahman Green suffered, we see that only 8 out of 10 were able to return to their same profession.

Out of those 8 who were able to resume their profession, only 4 were able to return to a pre injury level.

From what I have seen, I do not believe that a pro football player has ever returned from Green's injury. However, there also have been very few documented cases of the injury, so I am not sure if that is "much ado about nothing" or "stick a fork in him" at this point.
