Devin Hester (1 Viewer)

LOCO

Magical 3 year WR. Stud QB, that locks into his WR#1. i know, bad hands, bad route running. Still think hester should be a solid WR#3 with upside.

Coles

Crotchery

Driver

Holt

Avery

gimme Hester. i see at least 7 TDs.........

so bear homers, how has he looked???

im not so sure he's flyin under the radar. every draft i've been in someone is thinking Cutler to Hester should be electric and takin him in mid rounds.

im passin on Hester and pickin up Bennett as a late round flier. i think he might have decent value, especially in ppr.

I wouldn't associate Hester with the "3rd Year WR" theory, since he's only been playing WR for 1 1/2 years and he started his career as a DB.

At his ADP (8.4), I'd rather take guys like Mason, Ginn, Josh Morgan, or Chris Henry.

That's my plan as well. While one of them may indeed turn out to be a go-to guy for Cutler (beyond Olsen), I think it could very well be Bennett rather than Hester and you can probably get Bennett much later.

Went in the 4th round in a draft recently, was like the 13th WR off the board... ridiculous IMO.

I agree that taking Bennett very late in the draft is a very low risk play. But it's foolish to think he'd make the jump to #1 WR in the NFL, having never had a reception in the NFL in his first year on the team. Low risk, but most likely low reward.

You could say the same thing about any rookie WR that hasn't caught a pass in the NFL. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Eddie Royal or Deshaun Jackson, but just that this is a team that clearly lacks a go-to WR, and I'm not convinced at all that Hester is it. One thing working in Bennett's favor is that he and Cutler played together at Vanderbilt, so the familiarity is there.

And the third year WR theory generally applies to guys who already had experience at WR in college, for at least a few years.

I took D Hester as my WR4 in a Keep 3 Players +0.5 PPR 12 Team league.

We start 3 WR plus 2 Flex (RB/WR/TE).

Picked him up at 3.10 (equiv to 6.10).

Love the value as we get points for KR/PR TD's too.

With AJ, Ocho, Holmes & Breaston joining him, I think he is a great Risk/Reward pick.

Cutler has the arm strength to make more plays with Hester then Orton could even imagine. The strength of the running game will keep DB's off balance and cheat up some. If Hester can hold onto the ball, he should be able to make some nice plays downfield.

Johnny Knox ... Faster ... than Hester
Sure, if 4.49 is 'faster' than 4.41.And no yadda yadda yadda about game speed, please. You haven't seen Knox enough to know - and Hester's been light's out speedy as a return guy.

 Bennett will probably catch more balls, for more yards, and more TDs than Hester.that might not be saying much, but I view Bennett as the #1 in Chicago, and definitely not Hester.

Good points all (and I agree that him going as the 13th overall WR is nuts).Honestly, while I think he will have some "ESPN" plays, other than his speed, he really still seems to lack much of what it takes to be a very good NFL receiver:1) He's small...or more accurately he plays "small". He's listed at 5' 11" (which I don't buy anyway) - but he is not a "leaper". He is much more comfortable running under a ball, than trying to go up and get one in traffic. Part of this is likely due to his lack of WR experience.2) Due to his lack of experience, he still seems to not to things that many WRs do "instinctively" (i.e. break of a route at the right time, he doesn't seem to know where to "sit in a zone", as mentioned he doesn't look comfortable making catches in traffic. To compound the above, now he had to get in sync with a new QB. So far he and Cutler don't seem to be on the same page. While Hester will see a decent number of looks and have dozens of "big plays", he will likely be 2nd, 3rd or even lower in # of receptions (Olsen and Bennet). I actually see his numbers looking very similar to last years - a little higher (60 or so/750 yards and maybe 5-6 TDs). Certainly a startable WR3 occasionally, but definately not a WR2 or anything near that (unless your league counts return yards + TDs).
