Maybe everyone here had already figured this out, but...Devone Bess has quietly put up almost a half season of solid & consistant performances and seems to be flying way below the radar.

In the 7 games since he recieved an increased role in the offense in week 12 last year, Bess has compiled the following stats:

42 receptions - 423 yards. That is an average of 6.0 rec/game and 60.4 yards/game. In 6 out of 7 games, he has 5 or more receptions.

6 rec & 60.4 yds/game projects to 96 receptions and 966 yds  for a 16 game season. There was some question in pre-season if he was going to start, so he may still be on many waiver wires. He isnt likely to be a TD machine, but IMO he has the potential to be a WR2 in a ppr and a WR3 in a non-ppr league.

Whats the story with this guy? Another game or two of similar production and I cant see Camarillo taking his job.

how many td's over that span?

also, he has actually played 8 games counting from week 12 inclusive, if you count this year.

Bess is a great story down here....but the Miami passing game will be week to week. It is very difficult to know which WR will be the guy getting most of the balls. One week Ginn will get a lot of looks...the next Camarillo, then Bess...then back to Ginn.We have no clear cut guy week in week out. Bess is a great story as a free agent pick up as a rookie and he has worked extremly hard and is a fan favorite. I have him as a nice WR4 at this point. Could he evolve into a reliable every week starter? The next 3 weeks will tell us what direction the Dolphins passing game is going in. We are playing against 2 dynamic passing teams in Indy and now Rivers with the Chargers....so we will have to pass the ball to keep up if we can't keep those guys off the field with our running game.

He only had 1 TD all of last year. I'm not saying he is going to be a stud, but recievers with 80+ reception potential shouldnt be sitting on the waiver wire. He seems to have lots of opportunities to make plays. Also, I just quoted regular season stats. 12,13,14,15,16,17 & 1 is 7 games. In his playoff game he had 2 receptions for 54 yards. That brings his 8 game averages to 5.5 rec & 60 yds per game.

LOVE Welker Bess. Still not getting noticed, which is not totally surprising given his size, school (Hawaii), how he went undrafted, and ended up with Pennington and the Dolphins no less. But still, I expected at least a few of all the FBG stathounds to serve notice. Not so...

He'll be a big pickup next week (ppr), after his Monday night game.

He could be a nice dependable reserve, especially in deep leagues. He has limited upside, unfortunately.

He doesn't have a high amount of upside because he lacks TD potential. However, in PPR formats I could see him being a rock-solid WR3. In his last eight games dating back to last season he's had at least five receptions six times. The thing I liked about him last week was he caught everything thrown to him. That's a great way to generate trust with your QB. I think people are sleeping on him right now in PPR leagues. If he's on the WW in yours, I'd pounce. If you can get this guy as a WR4/WR5 in a PPR league you'll be doing quite well in my opinion.

I own him in a ton of leagues as a WR4. He is a nice PPR sleeper...problem though is...and I will say it again The Dolphins are a week to week team with the passing game. They want to work in Camarillo, Hartline, Fasano and of course Ginn.

Hope your right about that...and in any 12 teams PPR dynasty I play in...he is not on the WW. He was picked up last year.

You know your Dolphins better than I do. However, it looks to me like the only WRs who have locked in roles in the passing game right now are Ginn and Bess. Ginn is the No. 1 and Bess is the slot guy. Isn't that correct? I think Bess will remain in the slot and if he continues to catch a high percentage of his targets, I think Pennington will look to him. I could see him being a poor man's Wes Welker in this offense. Working out of the slot and piling up the receptions. That's what he did when he shined last season (granted that came with Camarillo out) and it happened in Week 1 too.

The Dolphins are pretty much a mess right now but Bess is on pace for 91 receptions this season. There isn't much TD upside with him but in a PPR league he's looking like a pretty solid WR3 right now if you need him. His floor looks to be about 3-4 receptions a game.
