Dexter McCluster? (1 Viewer)

The Chiefs announced No. 36 overall pick Dexter McCluster as a wide receiver.

McCluster was Ole Miss' starting flanker early in his career, before moving to tailback. "I think it'll be easy," McCluster said of converting back to receiver. "I don't think the transition will be that hard." McCluster is likely ticketed for the slot, between Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers. He could flirt with 50 catches in the role, though he's not going to get many carries. Jamaal Charles is safely Kansas City's starter with Thomas Jones behind him. Apr. 23 - 11:07 pm et

Bam!

He doesn't hurt the value I place on Charles too much, I wasn't expecting crazy #s anyway... he steals a dozen or so Recs from Charles.

McCluster lined up in the slot in college, but he's too small for that work in the NFL.

I can't believe the Chiefs would consider changing his position and using a high pick for a project.

McCluster is very quick and shifty in space. He's gone to the wrong team, IMO...

He should be used like a Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles type.

Corners and safeties are too physical for little guys like McCluster.

I love the pick, but the Chiefs don't know what they are doing.

What are you talking about? The slot is the perfect place for undersized, quick and shifty pass catchers. It is the easiest place to come off the LOS with out obstruction on the field. The slot guy can always be motioned away from press and most teams don't want to press a guy in the slot to begin with because it could potential put that defenders back to the box and the likelihood of natural picks is high.

McCluster in the slot and McCluster and Javier Arenas deep to return kicks and punts. Chiefs improved special teams bigtime and got a slot WR/wildcat/scat back as well as a nickel back in round 2 with these 2.

This could all have been said about Harvin last year too.

Percy Harvin outweighs McCluster by 20 pounds.

I could see some in redraft seeing McCluster drafted as RB and downgrading Charles. Along with the pick-up of Jones, Charles could go 4th round or later. What was once a risky high-draft prospect now could become a nice sneaky pick.
