DH top 20 WR's (1 Viewer)

Deranged Hermit

Not cool & Pissed
The third installment of my early rankings. RB rankings can be found HERE QB rankings HERE.

There's a good reason I saved WR until last, they're VERY hard to predict past the top 10. Here's my best shot though:

1. Andre Johnson

If you've read my QB and RB rankings, you know I see big things from Houston's offense. I'm taking a chance on his health, but he's an absolute monster and a guy I think will really shine this year.

2. Larry Fitzgerald

Not much I can say here. The dude's a beast in an offense that likes to throw. That being said, he also has to share touches with Boldin and an emerging Breaston.

3. Reggie Wayne

Most people see a down year for the Indy offense, but I don't. They're still loaded with weapons and I expect Wayne to have a VERY good year.

4. Calvin Johnson

I struggled typing his name, I really did. Here's a guy that has either a washed up Culpepper throwing to him or a rookie. He'll have great games, but I think he'll also disappoint at times through no fault of his own.

5. Randy Moss

He's here because he catches a TON of TD's. He'll disappoint some weeks as he doesn't get as many receptions as the guys in the top 4, but he'll be rock solid more often than not.

6. Anquan Boldin

What does this guy have to do to get respect? He was the number 1 WR in my league last year despite getting his face crushed and missing two games. People will scream about my Warner ranking in my QB thread since I have him throwing to the number 2&6 WR's, but I still don't think he'll make it through the season. I just think the Dynamic Duo will get their's with Warner OR Leinart throwing to them.

7. Steve Smith

I'm really not sure how he does it every year, but if he's healthy, he always produces. I'm really hating his QB situation though, it scares me to death.

8. Roddy White

People who stole White last year (like I did in all but one draft) ain't doing it this year. This guy is the goods and everyone knows it now. Gonzo stealing some TD's is a concern, but I don't see it affecting him too badly.

9. Greg Jennings

Aaron Rodgers really came into his own last year and if you read my QB rankings, I think he'll do it again this year. Jennings is a special talent and will benefit from Rodgers throwing him the rock often.

10. Terrell Owens

I hate Owens and his situation in Buffalo, but you can't discount his talent. He'll get 1000 and 10 TD's and that's good enough for top 10 this year.

11. Wes Welker

Welker should be reborn this year with Brady's return. He won't get a ton of TD's, but he will get a lot of yards and a ton of receptions.

12. Brandon Marshall

As a Bears fan, I can most assuredly tell you I'm not a fan of his QB situation, but Marshall's talent is too great for him to be ranked lower. He'll get his.

13. Dwayne Bowe

Yeah, he probably should be higher, but there are a lot of unknowns in KC: new coach, new QB, no Gonzo to take coverage away from him. I'll get skewered for basically talking out both side of my face with him and Marshall, but I just think Marshall is more talented.

14. Marques Colston

This is a ranking that will most assuredly change in my next rankings (high or low). Right now his recovery is promising, but a lot can change. I see big things from the NO passing game and if Colston is healthy he'll be a big part of that.

15. Chad OchoJohnsonCinco

I hate this clown, but he seems to be rededicating himself to his team mates and his own work ethic. I can easily seeing him playing better than this ranking, but I can easily see him tanking again too.

16. Braylon Edwards

So much wasted talent here. They need to establish a QB early so he can develop a good rythm early. His hands leave a lot to be desired, but I think CLE playing musical chairs at QB was as much at fault as Edwards was.

17. Anthony Gonzalez

I said I liked Indy's offense and I meant it. With Harrison gone now is the time for Gonzalez to shine.

18. Desean Jackson

McNabb likes to spread the ball around, but Jax always seemed to get the most looks last year AS A ROOKIE. With another year under his belt I have him top 20 with the possibility of moving way up.

19. Donnie Avery

The cupboard is bare in StL, and they'll be passing a TON since I expect them to be playing catch up quite a bit.Look for a lot of rec and yards, but the TDs may suffer.

20. TJ Houshmandzadeh

Yeah, I had to look up how to spell his name correctly. :nerd: He'll get a lot of rec for a team that will throw a lot but he'll be blanketed since he doesn't have a guy like Ocho taking heat away from him.

Fire away....

I think Avery and Gonzalez are the two that surprise me the most. I like the list and really appreciate the commentary as well.

I would probably put Jennings and White over Steve Smith. No way I can take Smith in the top 8 with his potential to get hurt and ruin my season.

Smith hasn't been hurt for a couple of years. AJ has missed games in 2007 and 2008 due to injuries. And you're going to avoid Smith? Please explain.

B/c he is small, old and has taken a lot of hits already.
Yet he STILL puts up top 10 numbers.

Avoiding Smith because of injury is what will kill your season...
Everyone has people who they avoid for one reason or another. Some because they were burned, some because they rate a player considerably lower than others, they might hate the team logo, whatever. Bumping Smith down because of injury risks is legit, but taking him off your board isn't. It's all about value......

:potkettle: he's short and lighter than WRs 6" taller, but the dude's a tank.

I like the list, the only difference in the top echelon is I like Jennings #5, he does everything you could want, he's young and his QB seems to be one of the best young guns. there's 2 young QB/WR combos that I love - Ryan White and Rodgers Jennings, if I can secure either I'd jump at it.

:lmao: Brian Westbrook's alter ego plays WR.

I like the guys that you've identified in the bottom half of the list. A good mix of young guys and older guys that bounce back from a down year.

I think the top ten might be a little too predictable - or should I say it is too similar to last year's top ten. I'm having the same problem making my list. Its hard to fathom the idea that a guy like Calvin Johnson or Greg Jennings doesn't make the top ten again this year. This is the first year in a while it seems that there are 10 or more legitimate #1 fantasy WRs, and so it seems every top ten is just a reshuffling of the same list.

IMO, WR's are much more consistant from year to year than RBs. Some guys sneak in here and there, but how many years in a row did you see: Moss, Holt, Harrison, Bruce, Steve Smith, Owens etc in the top 10 these past 10 years? Some are either retired or just old, but they always came very close to matching or exceeding their ADP. Much more than RBs IMO.

IMO, back in the day that was true but not as true in recent seasons. And most of the time the RBs get reshuffled it's because some of them missed a fair amount of time. WRs don't get hurt as much.As for the guys you listed, here's where they ranked over the past 10 seasons . . .Moss 10, 1, 59, 15, 19, 1, 5, 5, 1, 2Holt 40, 13, 6, 6, 7, 2, 15, 8, 7, 35Harrison 42, 100, 1, 9, 5, 5, 1, 1, 2, 1Bruce 25, 41, 25, 58, 12, 18, 16, 17, 6, 6Smith 5, 16, 8, 1, 144, 15, 42, 114Owens 9, 2, 2, 32, 4, 12, 2, 2, 3, 47
