Did Brandon Jacobs get a bad deal? (1 Viewer)

I mean i was shocked by how little his new deal with the Gmen was compared to all the other deals lesser players are getting.

Jacobs got a 4 year 25M for someone who can change a game?

Gibril Wilson got 5 years and 27.5M WTF?

Antonio Smith 5 years 35M

Yeremia Freaking Bell got a 4 year 20M deal

Deangelo Hall got like a 9M a season for 5 years

How the hell was the only real star RB on the FA market gotten for so little?

heard something the other day that I hadn't thought about. RB's are among the lowest paid skill position players in the NFL.

RB shelf life is short not to mention Jacobs is a 2 down back.

Three thoughts on the matter:

First, it was a very good deal for the Giants.

Second, When you consider most contracts bulk numbers are inflated by finals years that will never happen, is the contract so under market?

Finally, Jacobs may simply have wanted to stay with the Giants, and got enough to make him happy while staying in the City in which he wants to play.

Yes he got a bad deal in financial terms. He could have been franchised 2-years running and wound up with more guaranteed $ than the $13 mil guaranteed that he got over 4 years. If he'd gomne the franchised route, he'd get more guaranteed $ and become a FA, instead of being committed to 2 additional low/unconditional pay seasons. However, for me it's somewhat refreshing to see a guy take an ok deal to stay where he wants to play.

He's drinking the Big Blue Kool Aid and loving every minute of it. He may have given a bit of a Hometown Discount to stay with a winning franchise. Nothing wrong with that.

Texans overpaid for Smith, but it's good to have someone opposite Mario. Hall is overpaid, but that isn't the least bit surprising.

Jacobs deal is better than Gibril's or Bell's.

Jacobs isn't a complete back. He's a great runner, but that's it. He's worth a little more, but if I'm him I'm staying put too.

Lets look at it this way, The Giants got a good deal.
Obviously, but Jacobs is entering his RB prime, thought he would get 10M a year at least
Er, no. He's hurt a lot, he has hands of stone, and he needs a good RBBC with him. That would make him the highest paid RB in the league.

Lets step away from the crack pipe.
Irony.I am far from a fan of Jacobs, but he has very good hands, especially for a back that big.

His hands are terrible. Guy drops so many easy screens it drives you crazy - takes away a potentially devastating weapon, with Jacobs able to get some steam before a LB or DB tries to tackle him.As a huge Giants fan, I can attest that Jacobs does not have good hands.

omfg, are you joking? I had this guy in PPR, and a few games I saw he literally screwed up 5-6 passes in a row.He had ***6*** catches last year in 13 games. Try watching him play.

Yah no kidding. I really like Jacobs. But he has HORRIBLE hands. Which is why you need a good 3rd down back to go with him in RBBC. His contract seemed pretty damn good.
