What a winning organization.Redskins tight end Chris Cooley told Washington-based radio station DC101-FM that the Lions quit in the second half of their 34-3 loss this past Sunday, partly because of the heat.
“I think it was a contributing factor in why we won the game,” Cooley said. “I mean, Detroit's not practicing in 90-degree heat. We have been. It’s been hot every day. We were pretty used to it. They were dead in the second half. They didn't care. It seemed like they didn't care what happened.
“When you get tired, fatigue kind of takes over. We were dominating the first half of the game and it stayed close, but we really pulled away in the second half when they made a lot of errant plays.”
When asked if he could tell the Lions’ heads were not into the game, Cooley said, “You could definitely tell.”
“For example, we come out (in the first quarter), we come out and try to run the ball, and they're real physical. They're playing solid. It's tough to get yards -- everything's high-speed. And then, a couple plays into the second half, and it's just like, I get into blocking a guy, and they pretty much just stop and let me block them.
“It’s like, ‘Well, thanks, buddy,’ I’ll just hold you here and we’ll run away from you.”
