Did the Dolphins run up the score on the Patriots? (1 Viewer)

I laughed as soon as I saw the thread title. Nice one. After all of the "NE is running it up" threads from last year this one was funny.

FWIW, I don't think the OP said anything about Brady getting hurt. I think bringing it up here and acting like that was the point of the thread isn't warranted.

I'd easily give it a 9/10 especially after people bit so hard on it. Any copycat threads will all split the remaining 1/10.

RODNEY HARRISON CALLS RICKY WILLIAMS BLOCK DIRTY

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 22, 2008, 4:12 p.m.

Pot, meet kettle: Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is criticizing Dolphins running back Ricky Williams for what Harrison says was a dirty play Sunday.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Ronnie Brown scored on a 62-yards run. Running downfield trailing the play, Williams dove at the legs of Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel. After the play, Vrabel retaliated with a shot at Williams, and they were both flagged with personal fouls.

Harrison was asked after the game if he thought it was a dirty play on Williams’ part, and he answered, “Of course it was. Of course it was. There’s no place in the game for that.

Some would argue that there’s no place in the game for a lot of what Harrison does. In July a poll of NFL coaches revealed that they overwhelmingly believe Harrison is the dirtiest player in the league.

For Williams’ part, he said, “A lot of defensive guys don’t like it when you go at their legs. I can understand that. … If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t have done it because I can understand why he was upset. I was caught up in the play and just trying to help [brown]. I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody.”

I just have to add my $.02, and I am certain, without reading a single reply in this thread, that it has been said already. This is the stupidest topic I have seen in 6-7 years on this website. Have you actually been paying attention to what the Pats have been doing to the rest of the AFC East/NFL for the past few years? You are joking, right, looking to see your name in lights as every gives their "what are you, an idiot?" response?

:goodposting: You should have read the post and replies dude. Thanks for another laugh though.

Please forgive us for not being quite up to your intellectual level. :X
psssst... it's spelled "g-e-n-i-u-s".
Actually, it's "G-u-i-n-n-e-s-s", but who's counting?
 Guinis was the closest spelling I was allowed (to Guinness) when creating a character on Everquest. Although.....I'm not sure which is better, being accused of misspelling or admitting to playing EQ.

Refusing to read is being functionally illiterate. Reading is good. It helps you avoid looking like an idiot.

My son was raised as a Dolphins fan. He even has a little Ronnie Brown jersey. This morning after the game while I was making him lunch, he came up to me with the jersey in his hands. "What are you doing, son?" I asked him. He said "I don't want to wear Ronnie Brownses jersey anymore. He is not a good sportsman and I don't wanna be like him."I've never been more proud as a father.
:shrug:Spectacular. 10/10. Your notebook must be well up to date.

Somewhere, Trent Green is laughing at the irony of Rodney Harrison's words.

I did not refuse to not read, I chose to not read them because I assumed that the gist of most responses was similar to mine. Hardly makes one "functionally illiterate."

Not knowing that refusing to do something is the same as choosing not to do it doesn't make you illiterate either. But it doesn't make you sound like a rocket surgeon.

This thread lacks inertia. Perhaps a surgical procedure?

You think so? I believe it has plenty of inertia, it is heading right for the FFA...Now it could use a guidance system, but that can be applied on an outpatient basis.

Awesome post Tatum. Love it. You gotta be sitting back laughing your butt off as 90% of the people here took it hook line and sinker!!!

I came of age in football watching coaches like Joe Gibbs have their QB's take a knee late in games to run out the clock even if they were in the red zone and you could expect them to score against a totally outclassed team. But yesterday I was horrified to watch the Dolphins continue to run their high powered offense - the same thing over and over and over again - against a clearly vanquished foe, and have to say that I was crestfallen at the lack of sportsmanship.

Do you have to keep running Ronnie Brown off of direct snaps when the Patriots have clearly demonstrated that they can't stop it?

I felt bad for Belichick at that post-game press conference because decorum doesn't really allow him to fault the Dolphins, but you know that deep down he's got to be hurt by the disrespect. I think the league should step in and offer sportsmanship awareness courses for coaches like Sparano who take the game beyond decent sportsmanship and turn it into some sort of ghettoesque free for all with other coaches' and teams' self respect.

I'll get off my soap box now.
you felt bad for Bellichick?!  we reap what we sew..he's run up the score on plenty of teams in the past, he needs to take his lumps..

I remember the Jets getting run all over by the Pats last season, at the Meadowlands..

what are the Fish supposed to do, stop playing the game when they're up big? they were DOORMATS last season, and were beaten down , sometimes badly...they deserve their day in the sun...they one game in 2007...c'mon now..

I wasn't upset when the Pat "ran up the score" last year and I won't be made if insert any teams name here __________ does it this year. I've seen too many comebacks to get upset about it. On top of that, teams need to continue to work on elements of their game even if the score is a bit lopsided IMO. You guys get all worked up about nothing.

Please forgive the Dolphins, they know not what they do.

I cannot believe I am even responding to this post. This guy must be a Pats fan who needs a hug because his season is going down in flames.

What comes around, goes around. This won't be the first time that the Pats get blown out this year.

wow. That's all I can say. It's truly amazing - the # of people who hit "reply" without reading any of the replies.

Even if you don't read any replies, how could you possibly think this thread was serious? People really make me wonder sometimes...

No sympathy what so ever for the Patriots if I remember correctly the Patriots ran the score up all season last year so I would call this one payback for the Dolphins.

Fishing trip or no fishing trip, that has to rank near the top of "Post titles we weren't expecting to read this year." Kind of like "Archduke Ferdinand found alive, World War a mistake."

I appreciate you adding me to the notebook but I guess you missed the sarcasm in my post about the left-handed toss... seeing as you know.. Ronnie Brown is left-handed.
