Different FG/XP idea: Square goals (1 Viewer)

There is a lot of discussion of whether to do something about XP and FG attempts to make them more interesting or relevant. The extension of the goalposts gave me a new idea; why not make the goal square, like a soccer goal, instead of extending upwards indefinitely?

The cool thing about kicking at a square goal is that it would make short kicks harder without affecting the long kicks much. Kickers would have to kick it lower, bringing kick blocks on short kicks back into the game. You'd see a lot more teams going for it on fourth down as short kick percentages drop. It'd definitely make things more fun.

Not square, but...

I think, instead of the uprights being parallel, they should each slant in at some angle so that the further out kicks (i.e., which would pass through closer to the crossbar) are given more space than closer kicks, which would pass through higher and therefore have to be more accurate due to the angling inward of the uprights.

I ought to be on the competition committee!!
