Dirt Cheap Players (1 Viewer)

At this point, we've hit "give up" territory for alot of players.

I distinctly remember last year, after about 3-4 weeks I started shopping Deangelo. He had been decent, but nothing special. I was needing a little more "oomph" in my lineup..

Well fortunately, no one was biting so I held on....and won the championship, largely due to DeAngelo's monster second half.

Now, I don't know that there's another situation exactly like this right now..but in re-draft leagues, there are two VERY interesting options to me:

1. Jamal Lewis. Right now you could get him for a bag of chips. But he's actually ran well this year. In week 1, an impressive 11 carries for 57 yards against the Vikes. In week 2, he didn't have near the success against the Broncs...but he got injured in the game.

Lewis is 30...and is already injured. But hey, you can get him dirt cheap.

2. Larry Johnson. If you think his value is low now, wait until the Giants game is over. The O-Line is terrible and the Chiefs look BAD. However, he has a GREAT playoff matchup of Cleveland and Cincy. Also, there is hope that once Bowe is healthy and Cassell settles in, that more running lanes will open up for LJ.

I think both of these guys are obviously over the hill...but they can still represent value as we move along this year. I wouldn't want either in a dynasty or keeper situation..but they could be nice pickups in re-drafts.

Thoughts on these guys? Anyone else you'd like to add to the list?

I'm staying as far away as possible from Larry Johnson. He's simply too unreliable to be part of anyone's lineup, even with a good matchup. I traded for him last year because he had a "GREAT playoff matchup" against Denver in week 14. He put up a whopping 36 yards on 11 carries, 0 receptions, 0 td's. Not exactly a killer stat line.

In redraft, Jamaal Charles is probably cheaper and actually has a better chance of helping you in Nov and Dec after the team throws in the towel and lets younger players play.

Yeah, LT is a great add to the list. Right now most people are thinking that he's DONE...But he could potentially surprise and can be had for pennies on the dollar right now.

Lets compile some give up players that might lead to a championship.

1. LT

2. Portis

3. Beanie Wells

4. Larry Johnson

5. Eddie Royal

6. Terrel Owens

Anyone else? Who would you trade for these guys? The Manningham, Harvin, Reggie Bush type players?

I was able to shore up a semi-weak WR corps midway through the week last week by buying low on Greg Jennings. I have the pleasure of having drafted Welker, Donnie Avery, and Anthony Gonzalez as my 3 starters.

Got him straight up for Caddy who I had picked up off of waivers the week before.

Portis and Owens are great adds. They could both have huge second halfs.

Nicely done. I need one more WR badly and wish I had your ingenuity. I have a plethora of really good RB's ( Rice, PT, D. Brown, Lynch, Chester ) but I know as soon as I trade one, the other RB who they are competing with will go down. So I am holding tight for another week or 2. But man, would I love to have Jennings right now.

As a Portis owner I know I'm down on him right now and would be willing to trade him at a reduced price at this point. So if you're buying, now would probably be a good time.

Beanie Wells? do you really think he could "lead a team to a championship"?I just dropped him for Tashard Choice.

Eddie Royal *might* be useful in the next few weeks. The Broncos finally play some good teams and might finally fall a couple touchdowns behind. Maybe then, the Broncos will open the offense up a little and try to get the ball into Royal's hands.

I'm not counting on him matching last years numbers- just enough to make him someone to consider.

I think Beanie could be pretty golden in Dec when fantasy championships are played. For the next few weeks he is dead weight, but you have to figure they will give him starters touches sometime this year to see what happens. So pretty much he is the opposite of Choice, and a good pairing if you have room for both. I have both in a keeper league.
