Everything came out all right in the end.During that bonus round of shrimp, my wife's demeanor was akin to Marge Simpson's the night Homer ate the entire Frying Dutchman buffet. I didn't help matters by mentioning that she has let me see her naked on many occasions.

My daughter became Simpsons-literate when FXX ran that marathon. Her favorite episode so far is "Two Dozen And One Greyhounds", and we sing a little "See My Vest" when we hear "Be Our Guest" in the parks. When I was taking down that last skewer of shrimp, my daughter asked if she needed to call Lionel Hutz for me. I'm so proud of that kid.

When the instructor threw up the choices, my daughter campaigned for Flynn Rider giving "The Smolder". I led the faction for Winnie The Pooh to bring down the level of difficulty a little.My daughter's Pooh Bear looked like something out of an art class. My wife's looked like one drawn by someone with a lot of drawing experience. Mine looked like the Kool-Aid Man. OH YEAAAAAAAAHHHH! Still loved every second of it.

P.s. If I'm staying at a Disney hotel with no car would there likely be somewhere in the hotel or close by I could purchase some beer and wine for the evening?

If you choose to forego the hotel store, the closest places are around downtown disney. So head to downtown disney. From there you can walk to the Hess gas station that sells beer and wine. If you're getting the shakes, there is an ABC liquor store that is a little further. 2-3 miles. Could take a cab from DD. There are plenty of cabs available there.

Potstickers are definitely my favorite part of that meal.

 
Fantastic weather today at AK. Animals were out for the safari ride, got our FP+ worth there.

If you don't love the Festival Of The Lion King, there is something wrong with you and you should get at CT scan or something to see what is dead on the inside preventing you from loving it. (I do recommend using a FP+ for it, though: less standing around, better seats)

Everest was a joy. The FP+ line extending out into the park was not.

Delicious lunch at Yak & Yeti. Tried a ginger salmon special served on a bed of stir-fried veggies and noodles. Salmon was cooked perfectly, noodles took in all the flavors of the sauce. Great meal, friendly staff.

Heading back to hotel for a quick swim and some rest before MVMCP.

I've done the breakfast buffet. Pretty good. Fun setting seeing the characters in safari gear. The Jungle Juice (believed to be equal parts orange, passion fruit, and guava juices) is delicious. Never done dinner there.

Jungle Juice enthusiasts: we were able to buy jungle juice by the glass at the popcorn stand right across the main bridge at the park entry. Same stuff they serve at Tusker House and AKL.

 
Was a great day indeed today Bruce. Did HS and having 3 girls under 8, the Frozen sing along, fantasmic, and Toy Story made their day. Something about the space and ease of getting around that park makes me enjoy it thoroughly. We had a real good experience at Mama Melrose, and all 4 adults in our party got the steak which came on a bed of mac and cheese that was out of this world. Really wanted to get the seafood arribiatta but just didn't know what the spicy sauce would do to my insides for the last 5 hours in the park.

Animal Kingdom tomorrow and then popping my cherry at O'hana at 5:30.

Ride times were invisible. By 9:00, only the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan, and Enchanted Tales With Belle were posting wait times 20 minutes or longer.

Rode Space Mountain three times in less than an hour. Walked right on Little Mermaid and Buzz Lightyear. Big Thunder was a short wait down near the loading zone.

During the 10:15 parade, we rode Haunted Mansion. Went so quick we turned right and loaded up for it again because the parade wasn't over. As we gathered ourselves after round 2, a HM servant approached us and said, "Did you just ride twice in a row?" "Yes." "do you want to ride it again?"

Normally our answer would be no, but we've learned when a cast member asks a question like this, the correct answer is "yes".

He took us through the Servants' Quarters (staff hallway), letting us bypass the queue completely and join the group in the parlor.

Great guest experience!!! Love these. Similar happened to us years ago for RnR coaster.

This and the Halloween party are on my Diz bucket list. But my wife is a teacher and its tough/impossible to get away during school

enjoy the rest of the trip.

Oooooh, you missed out. That's my favorite thing on their menu. It's not too spicy, but they can adjust the heat for you if you'd have asked them.

It was in theme, but it was just a hallway. Basically, it's a quick way for cast members to get from the exit to the start of the ride without having to loop through the queue. I think the cast member thought we would get a kick out of seeing that shortcut without having to reveal it to too many other people. Mission accomplished.

 
That strip steak on mac is my favorite dish at Mama Melrose's. And since it qualifies for DDP and Phantasmic dining, you can get it at a big discount.

Our Mama Melrose's experience was a bunch of little things that built up. The front of the house didn't have a record of us doing Phantasmic, so there was confusion about what we could and couldn't order and what price plan we were on. Our server was slow and short with us, quite unusual for Disney. Our entrees took a while to come out, much longer than it should at a place that level of dining. Water glasses were left empty. One member of our party wanted a mix of red and white sauce on their entree, and it came out with just white. We sent it back, and they just ladeled some red on top of it and brought it back, killing the texture of the dish.

Manager came out, gave us an extra FastPass for our trouble, and comped the botched entree. Server refused to accept a tip.

Whoa, hearing that surprises me quite a bit. I've definitely had meals I didn't care for at a Disney property (Biergarten comes to mind) but I've NEVER had bad service. Glad they at least tried to make it right.

We went there 2 weeks ago....I thought the food was amazing, but my wife and I are into that vegetarian exotic African food kinda stuff. Plenty of options for the kids too. Service was great so were the characters.

The Harambe Popcorn stand menu board had Jungle Juice Slushie in a souvenir goblet for 11.99. What they actually had yesterday when we ordered was cold 16 ounce cups of Jungle Juice for 3.99. Great to sip on Jungle Juice after FOTLK while walking over to Everest.

 
Great place. Was there Thursday and Friday for the Pop Warner Super Bowl at ESPNWWOS. Great complex and the atmosphere is just unparalleled. Stayed at Coronado Springs hadnt stayed there in about 15 years but it was a nice as I remembered.

While waiting for the parade this afternoon, the Plaza ladies dressed me up as a Christmas tree. Hung ornaments from my arms, fingers, ears, shoulders, neck, the works. The girls thought it was a huge hit.

Jungle Juice is the ####. To me there's three great reasons why I always get a breakfast reservation early at Tusker House.1. Always some great photo opportunities when the park is empty

2. With the early reservation you can pretty much eliminate the need for a Safari FP as you are right there.

3. I get my picture with Donald

ETA - the food is pretty good but it's pretty standard buffet items. I love the carved ham. It is pricey but if you would listen to your wife and get TIW you'd feel better about paying that much.

Lol I really need to do that Friday. Have 50s, Via Napoli the Wave and Tusker lined up for this weekend. I think she wants to do dinner at Tusker instead of breakfast. Open reservations for both.

 
Christmas season has officially arrived at MK.

Wait times crept over 60 minutes at the E-ticket rides and the major character meet-and-greets.

Folks were lining the Main Street sidewalks at 7:00 pm for a 9:00 pm parade. It was some organized territorial claiming, too. Two unmanned scooters were parked practically parallel to the street to reserve real estate for parade viewing. If I wasn't one week into an annual pass, I would have hijacked one and taken it for a joyride down Main Street.

We gave Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom a whirl. Not bad. Mostly it reminded me of what a great character Hades was in Hercules and how much I celebrate James Woods's catalog.

The big crowds haven't completely removed the magic, though. We were walking by the hub as a marriage proposal broke out, the second we've seen in the Magic Kingdom since we got here.

Took a day off from big-ticket food. Had a decent cheesesteak at Plaza and a fantastic brownie sundae for dessert. Should tide me over until tomorrow night's dinner at Whispering Canyon.

While the girls hung at MK I took a side trip to Polynesian to resolve our Ohana gift card switcheroo. Manager couldn't have been nicer about it, gave me a gift card with the missing amount, and asked if there was anything else my family at Ohana could do. I explained what WDW and Ohana in particular means to my family, we are leaving for home on Monday... And you know what would make my wife and daughter really happy? A window table on Sunday night with a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. I'll pay full price for the meals; I just want the table.

Manager pondered for a moment, and replied, "Cousin, Fireworks Sunday night are at 9:00. We'll see you at 8:00."

 
I loved the cousin shtick last night, and cliff, our waiter was top notch. We had the round table of 8 in the back corner with a direct view of the Castle. The girls got to see the lighting of the castle, plus the 2 stage show pyrotechnics. Was really a nice way to end our trip. Cousin Cliff said our table was exactly 1 mile from the castle doors, which they actually measured. I love those kinds of details.

We had FP on our way to a wonderful afternoon and evening in World Showcase.The funny thing is, DCA has the exact same ride with a stronger geographic tie-in, and the standby line for it never gets out of hand.

 
Got FP+ for DHS tomorrow afternoon, MK is open late, going to be great weather, no dining reservations... We may go for the grand slam: all four parks in one day.

:thumbup: at the Christmas party now. Splash and Thunder mountains are walk ons. Lot of other rides holding at 20 minutes still. My wife has been holding out for mine train but that's at an hour.

Not an earth-shattering amount of people here, but a lot more than last year. Didn't come the week before Christmas either though.

We're going to rest at the hotel this afternoon.Everest three times, and a fantastic safari ride with animals right by the trail and a male and female lion in view. On to Epcot...
