Disney Vacation (3 Viewers)

Yeah, I doubt its going to be a "dinosaur" type ride, I'm betting its the screen based 3-D like Transformers.  Which is good by me.
agreed...put me in the camp of those who don't mind screen based attractions—on a limited basis. I think they can do some really awesome things that just can't be duplicated IRL. Plus, there is a segment of the population that is younger and is being drawn away from WDW b/c they are not invested in the 'classic' attractions like we older guests are, and need that "FX fix."

if anyone wants to follow the action, keep an eye on #D23ExpoLIVE on FB today starting soon. Its the WDW Radio feed and Lou usually has some great guests.

today at D23 was mostly about Disney Awards and The Pixar and Marvel Animation Panel.

Disney Legends awards were presented to Carrie Fischer, Mark Hamill, Stan Lee, Oprah, Jack Kirby, Animator Clyde Geronimi, Imagineer Wayne Jackson among others.

For Pixar, nothing really new, TS4, Frozen2. Lots of talk about Wreck It Ralph 2....apaprently woven thorough the story is a lot of Disney tie ins with the Disney Princes and parks. Incredibles 2, Elastigirl will be the main hero in this one.

One cool thing on the show floor, to promote the new Duck Tails series, there created a Scrooge McDuck coin vault you can jump in, just like in the opening of the original shows.

Tomorow should be much more interesting b/c its the parks and resorts panel, Disney Studios Live action Panel

Is glvsav locked up or dead or something? They just announced like 37 new rides at Disney World and he hasn't posted.

I didn't even see that.

I just spent 25 minutes reading the new stories to my wife on twitter.
Most of the big parks news is WDW.

For DCA... the pier will be rebranded "Pixar Pier" over the next year.  Some sort of Avengers Land will be added, presumably that dead corner where the Monsters Inc ride is.  Paint The Night parade not going to Orlando but to DCA.

Lol.  No im fine.  Weekends are crazy with kids sports and stuff and then we had plans to go out.

Here is a list from what ive heard.  I still need time to digest all this.  Amazing!!!

-Star Wars Land to be called Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. BB-8, Chewbacca, Kylo Renand Captain Rex all appear.
-Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios.
-Major Epcot expansions coming. Clone of Ratatouille from Disneyland Paris, new film for China pavilion confirmed. More World Showcase attractions to be announced.
-Guardians of the Galaxy E-Ticket coming to Future World.
-New Green mission for Mission: Space, along with a full service restaurant.
-Tron Lightcycle coaster coming to Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland in 2021.
-Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel at Disneyland Paris.
-Walt Disney World to add Star Wars luxury resort as part of a multi-day fully immersive experience.
-Walt Disney World adding Minnie-van point-to-point shuttles and Disney Skyliner gondola system.
-New theater on Magic Kingdom's Main Street. Show TBA.
-Toy Story Land opening at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Shanghai Disneyland Summer 2018.
-Pixar Fest coming to Disneyland Resort next year. Pixar Play Parade moving to Disneyland, Paint the Night moving to Disney California Adventure Park.
-Paradise Pier to become Pixar Pier next year.
-Cars Land Halloween Experience coming this fall.
-Marvel Superhero Universe coming to Disney California Adventure. Will have Spider-Man and Avengers attractions. More details will be announced at a later date.

ok...I found a recording of the panel...DisNerdBoner. however, its on FB...anyone know how to share it outside of FB?

I dont mind giving you my profile, hope this works

the show starts at the 18 min mark. This is Lou Mongello who runs one the top WDW podcasts, WDWRadio.

I think my kids are the only people on Earth that like that ride but yeah they could put 4-6 other rides on that land.
the (good) problem with that ride for most people is that if you went as a kid, you remember riding it while you bounced off the rails and caused everyone whiplash while your dad worked the gas peddle.

Then you forgot about it for a few years but when you brought your own kids back, and you were the dad pushing the gas pedal while getting whiplash and your kid is excited as hell to be 'driving', it puts a bit of nostalgia in there.

They could put some Cars-themed bumper cars in there (or Hollywood studios) to keep a driving attraction

LOLZ

in all seriousness...I love all these new 'super immersive experience' they are talking about, but I really wonder how consistent they can be with individual experiences when the park is loaded at a summer weekend. I really hope it doesn't blow up in their face.

Did we talk about the Star Wars resort getting built at WDW?
no...but we can....and based on my post above, I'm cautiously interested in how it will go over.

is it something that guests will visit and stay at all trip? I can't see 'living' in space and then hopping out to go visit MK.

No windows? Just space images

Star Wars Clothing?

Inspired by the Willis Wood Theater in Kansas City, a vaudeville and live music venue in the city in the 1900s and 1910s.  Walt probably saw his first vaudeville show there when he was a teenager.

Kind of a weird choice given Main Street is supposed to be a nod to Marceline, and the Wood was destroyed in a fire in the late 1910s.
My only thought is that this will be placed at the end of that side street on the right side of main st. THere is a cast parking lot back there and really the only space available that I can imagine.

But yes...odd choice for Main St.

I don't mind Autopia at DL, but it is a different experience when the attraction is positioned as a leisurely drive instead of a race.  Fun having the monorail occasionally buzz by right over you, too.  Overall, though, it's an attraction that is very easy for CedarFair and Six Flags to duplicate.

They'll go out of their way to make sure the hotel guests have an immersive experience. You'll be paying thousands for that.

If you're one of the millions walking around the Star Wars land though, yea, you aren't going to get any of that. Just too many people.

that didn't take long....the Mini Vans point to point transportation has already started rolling out at WDW. So far they are only servicing trips starting from Boardwalk and Beach club, but should expand soon. Cost is $20 per trip—and nothing official but I doubt you are encouraged (or allowed to) tip.

Generally I found Uber Cheaper, but with Uber you are getting basically anyone off the street and they have that stupid swarm pricing that drives up the cost.

WDW to get a brand new DVC resort (Shocking) called Riviera Resort
Near the gondola huh????  I might like this.

Whats the deal with Cars land?  I hope that ride will be open when were there in Sept....fingers crossed.

My 7yo has been obsessed with Cars more than anything else this past month or 2.  The new video game is pretty cool.

I don't think there is any Cars items coming to WDW, unless I missed something? What is it that you were mentioning?

All I heard about Cars is that they are doing a Halloween overlay at DCA...but thats not until 2018 FWIR

Disney parks blog confirms that that both Great Movie ride and Universe of energy will officially close on August 19th to begin changing them into their new rides.

Sorry on my phone, can't link

Cars Land is a section of Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.  It's an immersive experience with elements of Route 66 and Radiator Springs.  I'm not that big of a fan of the Cars movies and I think the experience is an absolute triumph.

The signature ride in the area is Radiator Springs Racers, which combines the elements of a dark ride  with a high-speed slot car run like the finish of Test Track.  HIGHLY recommend FastPasses for this one, as the standby line escalates quickly.

The other rides are Mater's Junkyard Jamboree (a scrambler ride worth riding - whips you around a lot more than it looks), and Luigi's Rollicking Roadsters (imagine cars doing a coordinated dance - IMO more fun to watch from the rail like a show than actually ride).

There are meet-and-greets with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the fire truck whose name escapes me.  Some of the McQueens and Maters have audio and will have conversations with you.

For food, Flo's V8 Cafe has some good stuff, a little heartier than burgers/fries/tenders.  Cozy Cone Motel is a series of snack shacks, all served in cones.

Outstanding fun.  Great sightlines just walking around.  You really feel like you're in the movies.

Yeah, I missed the part where the Halloween overlay for cars wasn't until 2018.  I thought it was upcoming.  You know we'll be at DL in September.

Fast Pass question...

Can you only get 1 additional Fast Pass now after the initial 3 each day?
yes/no.

After all 3 are used, you can got 1 more (even at a park you are not currently in), and then when that is used you can get a 5th, and then a 6th...etc. Granted, by the time you get to FP 4-5, there will be limited selection, but its worth seeing what you can grab anyway.

This is why its best to plan most of your FP earlier in the day and stay away from late night/fireworks/night show FPs b/c that locks you into only 3 FPs for that day.

Cool.  My parents are at Hollywood Studios right now and freaked out a bit when the app said the 4th FP they got was their last one for the day.  Just wanted to make sure they could still get another when they used that 4th one.

Odd....I've never heard that the app would say that. Let me look into it.

on a hunch, my only thought is that HS hassock few attractions, that they are limiting FPs. But thats still sounds odd.

I would suggest they go to guest relations if they can and get an official answer though. Hope they are having fun.

Google says it's a known glitch in the app and can be solved by signing out and signing back in.  Having them try that.
