IMO, I would assume MDE is getting a huge overhaul right now and our magic bands will help with the distancing guidelines when waiting in line. I expect WDW to adopt boarding groups for each open attraction. Not like Rise or Resistance where you check in before going into park, but more like they do at Universal's water park where you tap you "Tappu Tappu" band at the attraction, and it gives you a time to come back. This way they can control how many guests are in line at any one time. This will most likely be SOP for theme park rides in the future. I cant see them going back to normal standby lines once this is implemented—no nessecerally for distancing reasons, but just for infrastructure and guest flow reasons.

Shouldn't temperature checks for everyone?  Not just staff?  Nice that staff not having temperature but I don't want that guy in the park feeling a little under the weather put pushing on to make sure his kids get to meet Mickey.

Honestly, I don't see anyway I visit any of these parks until there is a vaccine.  We are pretty regular visitors as well and had been starting to work on a trip to Cali parks for fall before this all went down.  No way we are doing that trip now.

Other than those that already planned and paid for a Disney vacation.....who on God’s green earth would even consider going to a theme park until 2021...at a minimum?

Why even take a risk like that. It is crawling with flu and other virus’s to begin with now add Covid 19 to the mix?. I think Disney is in for a world of pain revenue wise until mid 2021 when this is well behind us.

Anyway.....been there and done that dozens of times and feel really bad for the families who have never experienced it yet.

But seriously? If you can get a refund.....do it. And wait....wait till we are back to normal or this will be a vacation from hell. And you will have bad memories. And why take the risk of being in a theme park where people from all over the globe converge.

Lunacy.

If they’re open I’m still going July 1st and I’d love if it’s 50% capacity, so yeah, hopefully lots of people stay away so I have shorter lines

Sorry but I don’t want some cast member checking my temp after they’ve wiped down and checked hundreds of people before me

also no way these parks are staying closed for years while we wait on a vaccine.  Cmon man

Good luck. And stay healthy. You just gotta make sure your kids keep their hands out of their mouths, face.....seriously.

They’re 7 8 and 11 so I don’t think I need to worry about them licking railings or anything.  I’m not typically one that’s overzealous about germs though either

I will never forget waiting in line for toy story and the little girl in front of us would not stop itching her butt in her underwear. Smelling her hands and everything. Touching railings, was picky about her glasses. Her dad wasnt paying attention at all.

We were gagging. You can actually social distance in line.

To this day when we are getting ready to board it is a fun game of russian roulette. Please not car 17, please not car 17.
That is a some sick.....demented #### man. I would never be able to get that out of my mind if I saw that nasty stuff. Lord.

They have contactless temperature check systems.  You don't need to be touched by anyone.  Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/Forehead-Infrared-Thermometer-Accurate-Readings/dp/B086MYFCB4?ref_=s9_apbd_obs_hd_bw_bAq7OAl&pf_rd_r=CYCRW8MMGMQQN57QYBNW&pf_rd_p=3f3b49c3-ad04-5590-8d43-3f713bb78c2f&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-10&pf_rd_t=BROWSE&pf_rd_i=9931459011

I also didn't say they would be closed until there was a vaccine.  I just said I wouldn't go on a trip without a vaccine.  I know way too many people impacted by this virus to put my family at risk.

Even at 50% capacity, six feet away in lines is going to stretch halfway across the park.

Wonder how the park capacity thing will work?  First come first served?
Yeah I don’t see how that will work, they gonna tell people who flew across the country (or world) and paid $100 a day they can’t come in?

maybe if hotels only book at half capacity or something that bought help, limit annual pass holders to one park a week or something?

Not to mention the dining and FP reservations that are booked months in advance.  Can't imagine getting the kids to MK and those guys saying the park is full, but if you hurry you might can get into AK today?  Nah.

They'll figure something out though.

Probably only sell so many tickets a day and they’ll have to be park specific
Seems logical, but that pretty much flips their entire ticketing system on its head.

I would imagine 99%+ of people that have bought park tickets in the last 10 years have not bought tickets to a particular park.  Theres no specific park selection when you buy your tickets.

Plus the season pass holders...You're not telling them which park they can go to on what day.

I dont know...its going to be a mess.

Yeah I don’t think you can even buy a specific park ticket, just single park or hopper

Not sure what the standing six feet apart in line really helps anyways. You still gotta walk right through where the other people were standing a few moments before.

Also have all the resort busses, monorail, etc.  the bus I guess you could limit but not sure how you limit how many people get on a monorail car.  I guess they could have someone monitor each car and queue up the next 10 people in line or whatever

Talking this out in the thread has me a little less optimistic October will be a go for us.   :(
I think many problems will come from people from other countries.  Under ideal circumstances,  they are generally pain in the asses, I can only imagine how bad it will be when things start to ramp up again.

How the heck any type of big amusement park will be open in July has me scratching my head (esp Disney being they get people from all over the world).   I think I’m on the mild side for being scared of germs and this virus, but no way in hell would I go to an amusement park this summer lol

Limited capacity wouldnt really work for a theme park.  Everyone still crowds together at each attraction.   Instead of a group of 2 thousand it's a group of 1 thousand???  Nope

If you are suppose to stay 6 feet away from people and more if you are walking, jogging, running behind someone how far should one be on an amusement ride?

I’m sure if you are booking a room you will get in. I don’t know how they’ll do it but you will know if you can enter the park each day or not. I’m sure tickets will be wildly expensive though.

we booked before all this hit but we are staying on universal property since we are doing 3 days at each so how would that work?

ill give it another month to see how things shake out and go from there

I suspect that will change once you're in the park and observing what's happening around you.  About the last thing I would ever consider myself is a germaphobe and cursory observations in the parks leave me sick to my stomach sometimes :lmao:

And I feel the need to reiterate...Disney is really struggling with this.  I'm not sure they have an answer yet based on friends of ours working there trying to figure all this out.  A week or two ago they were scrambling.  I'll see if I can get an update, but they are working REALLY long hours to try and figure all this out.

Zero chance.  Pumps the stock though

If they follow the county guidelines, it'd be 25%.  I have heard it will be between 15-30%...they are still trying to figure it out.  A big issue is cleaning...wiping down rides  followed by the amount of space required to maintain distances.

Who knows if it actually means anything, but I was talking with my friend who is a Disney vacation planner and she said that Disney is allowing them to book trips for post June 1. So while there’s nothing official and I don’t think anything is written in stone, seems like that could very well be the target date.

I hope that they can figure out a way to do it to keep people safe while still having a good experience. If they open in June and can get things figured out, that would leave me hope for our trip planned in November. At that point I’d have a pretty good idea if it will be worth it or not.

I just hope that if they do open up(same with other places) that it is somehow made not possible to sue them if you contract coronavirus there.

For one, it's impossible to prove you got it there, and two, if you are dumb enough to go into a crowded park you shouldnt be allowed to sue even if you COULD prove you got it there.

Seems like it could be news but my Disney cruise for 5/23 just got cancelled this past Monday and up till Sunday they were still accepting reservations for it (btw, :loco:  ) so it may not mean anything at all.

Seems like the  theme parks are going to be left to their own devices as to how/when to open up.  Orange county has a set of guidelines for businesses, but have caveated  that the parks and other attractions will be afforded latitude to open as they see fit.  Not sure how I feel about that, but I think Disney is taking this really seriously...lots of late nights and weekends trying to figure the whole thing out.

Seriously though - I've resigned myself to not going back to the parks for a long time.  I'm "lucky" in that we just recently reached the point where we were thinking our Disney trips were going to be much less frequent but it still completely bums me out.

Earnings are release tomorrow after close of the market.  We will see how much pain these park closing have caused.  Also, wonder if they will give any insight on reopening plans on earnings call.

While, I am certain some folks will head back to the parks I think it is going to be awhile before most people are willing to go.  I doubt I go anytime before a vaccine is ready.

Man, the Disney site was a nightmare today. My son is a star wars nut so I wanted to get him the star wars key and some other exclusivesthat dropped today for his birthday next week. I got everthing in the cart and the site just went bonkers. Logged me out twice, wouldn't take any kind of payment,  would randomly remove items.

I never saw anything like it. I was trying to give them 100+ dollars and they didn't want to take it.
