Did someone say Saint Thomas?   Virgin Islands?  Where does that fall.

One thing i Will never do...ever..is make a determination based on the political landscape.   If I start thinking about politics that much---ever--I will punch myself

I will say that this is only a fine idea in a country like the US. There are very many examples in other countries, in other eras (and even now) where your perspective would be foolish.

I live in the USA, so I'm quite pleased to hear this is a fine idea for me.

You probably want to be careful with that line of thinking - you should expect higher state taxes in states where there are low state taxes now - to cover for the lack of any federal funding.

That plus the influx of Northeasterns that have turned the city councils blue and raised taxes to finance trolleys, scoreboards for NFL owners, and a stadium to be like Mike.

Wait what?  I thought his thread was about where we would live IN THE USA??   Has it now become where in the world would I live?   Did I miss something?

Most (all?) of these new countries would still be highly polarized due to the rural/urban divide.

I think this is correct IF most people stay where they are now.  It’s obvious from the national map that our divide is less regions and more urban/rural.
