A beat up Runyan vs. a beat up Tuck may be the matchup that determines the outcome of this game.

so how much of an effect is Dan Klecko probably being out going to cause? Westy gets more carries because Buck will be FB? And Buck won't get much play at all in the FB role?

IMO this game comes down to the Giants' pass offense vs. the Eagles and, specifically, who wins the battle when the Eagles bring the blitz. So, without Burress available, this squarely falls on Manning's shoulders. And I think he will struggle today. Eagles win, 20-10.

:towelwave: exactly how I see it

It wouldn't surprise me if CBuck got more carries today than he has in any other game. What's a FB? :towelwave: This game will be about D. If the Eagles D from the last 4 weeks shows up the Giants are in trouble. If the Giants D from the last 4 weeks shows up the Giants are also in trouble.

To be more specific, Their secondary has been playing very good ball the problems over the stretch run has been up front. Giants defensive line and defense has a whole has to generate a pass rush.Welcome to NFC East ball. This game will be won and lost in the trenches; protect the passer, establish the run, rush the other passer. Football at it's best and simplest. Beat the guy standing in front of you. :football:

Ooooo! I'm getting excited! :excited:

I can't sleep. Really looking forward to these two games.Philly 14Giants 27SD 3Steelers 20  :football: :football:
Think that the scores in both games will be much closer and give you more to watch. I think that the Eagles are going to go to the wire with the Giants and win.In the other game, I think that Pittsburg has been living on the edge all season against a very tough schedule and the Chargers will surprise winning 24 to 20. Unbelievably all four road teams win this weekend.

Early reports on some interesting activations/deactivations for the Giants.

Active:

DE Jerome McDougle: dressed for the last regular season game being inactive for 11 weeks

WR Derek Hagan: Just signed in December

Inactive:

DE Dave Tollefson : Inactive for the first time since Week 6

WR Mario Manningham

Think McDougle is itching to play?

Edit to add:

The Giants are also going with two active kickers today. Carney is terrible on kickoffs, not that Tynes has been great there either, but Coughlin knows that field position will be very important so Tynes will likely handle the kickoffs and long FGs. I thought with a gimpy Tuck, the Giants might go with an extra DE today.

LB Gerris Wilkinson is also inactive.

He started the year as the starter and then got hurt. I was hoping he was healthy and ready to go for he brings much needed speed and athleticism to the Giants LB corps to (hopefully) bring more of a pass rush and (hopefully) help to cover Westbrook.

In a bit of a surprise, fullback Dan Klecko, listed as doubtful for Sunday's game with a shoulder injury, was active against the Giants.

Inactive for the Eagles were third quarterback A.J. Feeley, cornerback Dimitri Patterson, running back Lorenzo Booker, linebacker Joe Mays, defensive end Bryan Smith, wide receiver Greg Lewis and tight end Matt Schobel.

Inactive for the Giants were running back Danny Ware, linebacker Gerris Wilkinson, tackle Adam Koets, defensive end Dave Tollefson, defensive tackle Leger Douzable, wide receiver Mario Manningham and two former Eagles – cornerback Rashad Barksdale and defensive tackle Jeremy Clark.

I'm surprised Booker is inactive.

Sounds like you're not up to speed on Philly RB pecking order. It is Westbrook, C-Buck, Eckel and Klecko (who won't get carries). Booker hasn't stepped up at all and doesn't deserve to be active.

Eckel is the ball-carrying fullback.

I do understand that. But given that the Giants have speed issues at LB, Westbrook tends to shred them, Westbrook is gimpy, I thought they might activate another shifty, fast back over someone like Eckel who is a "three yards and cloud of dust" kind of guy.

They don't trust Booker.Westbrook and CBuck will get most of the work. Eckel will be the short yardage guy.

My thought was concern that Westbrook might not finish the game and the Eagles might want another shiftier, pass catching back out there but, obviously, the Eagles don't think so. Maybe that says that Westbrook is healthier than the Eagles are letting on.

Westy is always healthier than they let on :lmao: I havent seen him practice a full week in Nov/Dec/Jan in years

I'm out to watch the game!

I hope by the time I get home the game thread has morphed into another "McNabb can't win the big game" thread. :lmao:

Letting Marty call the plays, deactivating Greg Lewis before a big game, showing a little emotion on the sidelines...

Andy, I don't even know you anymore.

final thoughts heading into the game...

1) Jacobs is the key. He's fired up and healthy for the first time in months. I think the magic # for Jacobs is 125. He goes over, gints win. under and the brids take it

2) Do the birds stay committed to the run. If they fall behind early, i expect to see pass, pass, pass

3) Tuck. How healthy is he and can the giants finally pressure mcnabb this season?

Close game, 20-17...birds

Holding the Giants to a FG there isn't too bad at all. I'll take it.

As a Giants fan I am not thrilled with the FG but I will take the points to start the game(before anyone asks I didn't think the Giants should have tried to gone for it on 4th)

Why would anyone think they should go for it on 4th down? They were like 3 or 4 yds out. It would be silly to not take the points this early in the game.

I'm definitely feeling fortunate that the Giants only got three there. Now, the Eagles need to answer. Or at least pick up a few first downs to switch the field position.

Listening to pregame on radio, both the old warrior Runyon (Eagles tackle) and Tuck are hurt but playing. I think this matchup is key to the game. Can the Giants pressure McNabb without being forced to blitz? We're about to find out.

YES!!

Eli throwing a pick early. Reminds me of the good ole days when he wasn't very good.

Pats can't afford(or don't want to) re-sign Asante but they're going to franchise Cassel and have two expensive QBs.....geesh
