Divisional Round Game Thread - Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants (1 Viewer)

Phone thing is no biggie, and I can understand getting excited, etc. But IF...just IF...NYG had thrown a bomb after that and cut it to 5 I'm not laughing.Who cares, though. ON TO ARIZONA!!5 NFC Championship games in 10 years. Nice job McNabb/Reid!
just think if you woulda won 3 more of those, you could be the Buffalo Bills. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly? the Bills? I'll take 5 NFCCG appearances in 10 years. Bygones are bygones. They have a legit shot to be SB champs this year; no team left they have not/cannot beat.

we could be looking at a bloodbath in the NFC Championship game (in Arizona's favor), IMO...for whatever reason, Westbrook isn't the same player he was earlier in the season (be it wear & tear &/or injuries) & McNabb isn't near the player he was in his prime...& i don't believe Philly's D can hang with the Cardinals explosive offense (with or without Boldin)...if Arizona's D keeps playing lights-out, this game won't be close
Is this schtick? Have you seen how unbelievable the Eagles defense has been? And did you take a look at the score when the Eagles and Cardinals played just a few weeks ago?
This is the mentality I am banking on, the more people think the Eagles will be playing the team they destroyed a few weeks ago, the better...
And the Eagles are the same team? The Birds were considered OUT of the playoffs at that point. What are you talking about?
Thats pretty much my point. The Eagles were fighting for their playoff lives, the Cards had things all but clinched.

So you would rather just get to the NFC champ game than actually win them? Smart. You ARE choke artist. This will be proven next week by your logic.

I love how the Cardinals fans make their first NFCC in HISTORY and have the insanity to utter the words "won't be close." LOFL...this is a battle tested veteran team with a world class defense; your best hope as Cards fans is if the Eagles self destruct offensively. But McNabb is NO Jake Delhomme, that's for sure.

Huh???? Have a nice off season, pal. Of course I would have rather seen them win every game they lost. The point is, the Eagles have had a great deal of success long and short term, and are 2 wins from the Lombardi. But yes, Westbrook is Thurman Thomas, etc. Enjoy the games.

Hey, they are excited and unrealistic about their team, just as the Eagle fans are. Neither team is great. Either team could win. I think that Arizona will

My offseason started a few week ago. Your assumtion that i'm a NY fan couldnt be father off. Just sayin' look at it objectively HOMER.

Never assumed you were a NYG fan. I just assumed you are trying to provoke something. Best of luck with that.

Just a fact...last 10 years, the Eagles have been in 5 conference title games. In and off itself, quite impressive. I shouldn't be excited? I should believe they have a chance to win 2 more games? Because I am, and they do.

Don't be a tool.

and honestly, GOOD LUCK. I dont root against Philly very often, but 90% of America will be. Just because of Warner and the underdog aspect.Huh???? Have a nice off season, pal. I love how all you "know-it-alls" are still trying to predict NFL games. How many of you picked the Cardinals to smear the Panthers all over their own field? Any given day any team can win. They're all professionals and they're in the playoffs for a reason. It will be a competitive game.

i think arizona's only chance is if boldin gets healthy.
They just won by 20 at Carolina w/o Boldin, but now they need him to have any chance to beat Philly at home? Okay.
Philly's already beaten Arizona by twenty. Home field will give Arizon a shot, but the beating has to still be in their heads. It'll be interesting to see what the line opens at.
I dont think that game will be in their heads at all. You cant take ANYTHING from that game. It was Thanksgiving. Zona had less than 3 days of preparation. Zona had to travel cross country. It was freezing . None of these things are a factor this time.Zona will be the more rested team. It should be a very good game.
:lmao: I won't argue with the other things you said, but I was at that game and it was not cold at all. Nor was it windy, so they weren't either of the factors in Arizona playing horribly in that game.

I was not being a tool. All I ask is that you look at Phillt objectively. I dont root against the Eagles very often, but I will this week. I believe because of the underdog and Warner factor 90% of the U.S. will be as well

Who hates Kurt Warner?

Actually, I'm far from a Cardinals fan (if you were talking about me). I'm simply calling it as I see it. I remain steadfast in my belief that if Arizona plays the way they've been playing on D, this game won't be close (say anywhere from 10 to 17 points). If Arizona doesn't play lights-out on D, then it could be a different story. I have a hunch they will, tho.The three main reasons for this belief are #1 - Westbrook doesn't look like the same player he was earlier in the season, #2 - McNabb is no longer a difference-maker, & #3 - I just can't see Philly's D throttling the dynamic Cardinals offense at home (with or without Boldin). We shall see.

NOBODY, I'm rooting for Az and Warner. I said myself and about 90% will be against the Eagles

I believe that this week shows the ol "thats why they play the games". If ONE Cards or Philly fan says that they thought they would be in this position a month ago, they are lying or they are ultimate homers.Good luck to fans of BOTH teams.

I'd like to say "Congrats!" to the Eagles and their fans but the classless way that the Eagles fans handled themselves at the local I just came back from just makes me say, "Go Cardinals!"

All I got to say is :goodposting:

Great game by the D, McNabb was solid making very good throws in the wind

Can't look past the cards but can't believe it is one game to Tampa

I usually like to maintain a certain amount of class, but one classless deed deserves another. Kiss my ### Giants fans and your 18-1 crap. One and done, CHUMPS!!!!

So from your point of view, two wrong do make a right. Cool!Oh, and please link to you "usually maintaining a certain amount of class." TIA.

Edit to add: Is it this personal photo in your profile that is ""usually maintaining a certain amount of class" or is it something else... and you ##### about the "18-1 crap". Whatever "pot".

Gmen missed Plax more than they thought. Wonder what the offseason will bring.

COULD be no Plax(crime), no Ward(FA) and no Jacobs(FA)

Just the guy I wanted to read this. See ya in 09' Ave!
It does warm my heart and take some of the sting out of the Giants loss today to see how bitter you still are after loosing the Superbowl almost a year later. Thanks for helping ease my pain today!

fire up the smack talk for a game thread

I usually like to maintain a certain amount of class,
yes you sure convinced us of that  I hope you're 12 or under, otherwise your posts are pretty sad. And they aren't exactly impressive regardless.Congrats to PHI and I hope you beat AZ. Don't forget to send Burress and Manning thank you notes. :hot: (So much for Eli "turning the corner" - back to same ol same ol)

Damn.

Congrats Eagles fans. Can't root for you next week, but that was a hell of a show.

As for the Giants, I've said all year that this year was house money, and even next year is house money, in my opinion. If they didn't make the playoffs I still would have last year to fall back on and be happy with. But this is still disappointing given the opponent and how they lost. Really wanted the game.

Hopefully, a new big play WR comes in and they find a new middle linebacker that can, oh I don't know, run.

quotes like this make me think-poor Eli. What's a guy gotta do?He's allowed to have a bad game without being considerred a complete dunderhead isn't he?

:lmao: Imagine that, a VaGiants fan telling an Eagles fan to show some class. Looks like its trunk slamming time for Coughlin and the boys

It's interesting to read through this thread now that the game is over. A lot of valid points made. IMO, the momentum of this game changed in the final 2 minutes of the first half. As stagnant as the Eagles' offense had been, I was both amazed and impressed that they were able to march down the field and get 3 points out of that possession. Knowing they would get the ball again to start the second half must have thrilled Eagles fans everywhere.

The wind was a factor, but the Eagles D came to play, and McNabb seemed more "on" than Eli for the better part of the day. The Giants made a big mistake by not pounding Jacobs all day long, until the wheels fell off. He's was chipping away for 6-9 yards per clip, as he usually does. But then again, this is the same team that took Jacobs OUT at the goal line last season. :hey:

Putting the ball in Eli's hands when he was clearly not having one of his better days was one of several peculiar decisions Coughlin made yesterday. But when all was said and done the better team came out on top. Or maybe it was just the team that wanted it more.

As for the Cardinals, the Eagles are early 3-point favorites. I don't imagine that line will change much either way barring an unexpected injury during practice this week. The key for the Eagles will be getting to Kurt Warner. The Philly DBs don't match up well with the big, physical receivers of Arizona. Boldin is expected to start, so if Warner has time to throw, he will pick them apart. But if the Eagles force him to rush his throws, disrupt his timing, and knock him on his ###, they will create turnovers and will win the game. But they also need to move the ball offensively, but they've proven the ability to do that not long ago. And you can be sure the Eagles won't do them the same kind of favors that Carolina and Jake Delhomme did.

Two different teams than the ones that met on Thanksgiving. Who wants it more? Should be a fun game to watch. Hopefully the Eagles prevail, but I, for one, am not taking the Cardinals lightly. They didn't get to this point by accident . . .
