Mays has been playing while Ayers was out.Looks like Ayers will play again this week, so I'm not sure what's going to happen with Mays...If DJ plays, he's starting for me.EphI'd go Mays. He's outproduced DJ the past two weeks. With the DUI and now the concussion, DJ's got too much baggage to trust.
But Ayers is an OLB. His playing status should have no affect on Mays, an ILB.Ayers went down week 5, so Denver switched to a 4-3 for awhile. But they switched back to the 3-4 a few weeks ago, with Mays starting at ILB alongside DJ. Ayers being back will affect Mario Haggan or Jason Hunter, the other OLBs.
If Williams plays, I think Ayers goes back into an OLB rotation with Haggan/Hunter. If Williams doesn't play, I think the rotation depends on whether Ayers is ready to play every down and what the coaches think of Wes Woodyard. If Ayers can play every down and the Woodyard isn't thought of as a viable every-down backup, Haggan probably moves back inside. If Ayers isn't ready and/or Woodyard can hold up, then Ayers probably just plays on nickel downs for Jason Hunter, with Haggan staying outside and Mays/Woodyard inside. With Williams seemingly likely to play, Ayers' return likely affects only Hunter.Wasn't Haggan playing inside before all the injuries?
If DJ plays today, will he be a 3-down LB? Thx.But Ayers is an OLB. His playing status should have no affect on Mays, an ILB.Ayers went down week 5, so Denver switched to a 4-3 for awhile. I would think so. He was last week after returning from suspension. Though he's nothing special, he's their best cover linebacker. If he's cleared to take snaps, he should be able to take both base defensive and nickel snaps. If DJ plays today, will he be a 3-down LB? Thx.But Ayers is an OLB. DJ was at his highest value when they ran the 4-3 for a few games with previous LB injuries. Now that they are short handed at the LB position again its going to be interesting to see what they do.Does this help DJ's value with Mays being done for the season? And who fills in for DJ, Woodyard or however you spell it?
Doesn't matter what the team does if DJ is out with a serious injury. Is he hurt? I've read a lot of stuff today on him, and most of it doesn't talk about him getting hurt at all, but a few reports say his arm is jacked up.DJ was at his highest value when they ran the 4-3 for a few games with previous LB injuries.
