DL vs. LB (1 Viewer)

The league that I'm in lets you field 3 DBs, 3 DLs and 1 D (either DL or DB).

What I found out was that DL & LB = DL

Does this mean scrap the DLs in favor of an all LB core? (field 3 DBs and 4 LBs.)

How should I weight my selections based on this scoring:

Solo Tackle - 2pts

tackle assist - 1pt

sack - 3pts

int - 3pts

FF - 1pt

FR - 1pt

safety - 2

Pass block - 2

Block Kick - 2pt

In that scoring system, I'd predict that all but the best tackling/sacking DL will be well behind the top 30 or so LB most likely.

so (this will cement the obviousness of my ignorance) So I'm looking at tackles primarilly? That means 4-3 LBs – not 3-4 LBs...?

Considering I missed the boat on these guys who are waiver type guys? I have Ray Lewis (go figure), Ryans and Simmons (off the waiver). I dropped Dansby cause of the toe. Should I get him back? Who is his backup? Worth it?

Yep, you're looking for a 4-3 MLB or 3-4 ILB and 4-3 WLBs for the most part. You'll want a guy who plays in the nickel packages. Every league is different so it's pretty difficult to throw out names who may be on your waiver wire.ETA: It's probably worth stashing Dansby if there aren't any better options available. He's the best LB the Cardinals have and he should return by week one -- I'm not really buying the "career-ending" injury thing. And I wouldn't worry about any other Arizona backer until we're sure who they'll be. Gerald Hayes will probably be the best option.

I would go all LB instead of DL and here's why.

1. Quality linebackers gets a lot of tackles week in and week out.

2. If you have a DL and he does not get a sack what are the chances of him putting up a ton of points?

You have to go with consistancy instead trying to hit a homerun.

You must be in a Yahoo league if LBs are classified as DLs. Only take LBs. Don't bother with DLs. As the season goes on you may consider picking up a DL for a particular week based on matchups in order to gamble with the potential for a 2 or 3 sack game. Otherwise stay with the consistency an LB will give you with tackles.

That's absurd that LB's and DL are treated equally! I am not high on Dansby as he doesn't bring home too many tackles to offset his sacks potential. Additionally, I would take a solid safety who stacks the run versus a DL as well because they should avg around 8 tackles a game
