Or is the offense still capable of producing some decent scoring opportunities? I am inclined to think the STL DEF may be a sleeper this week. Thoughts?

It'll hurt as much as K.C.'s O-line losses, only S.F. doesn't have as far to fall. Hasn't the StL D shown that they are worth starting anyways, A.Smith, banged up line or not?

A sleeper? Against Alex Smith and SF?
Yes sleeper. STL was surprising to me atleast last week vs DEN as far as points allowed(10). While SF put up 27 pts on the road in AZ(somewhat impressive) they will have to operate with possibly 2 starters missing on the OL. Perhaps SF struggles a bit more as a result. Just one view of course. Your view is?

I think he's saying that STL D is a rather obvious good start this week, for all the reasons you stated. Not really a sleeper.

My view is that STL is an OBVIOUS start this week.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I think the Rams defense is a mirage. Denver ran for 6+ yards a carry and Gore is superior to either Denver back and Plummer played just horribly on the road. He missed open receivers and when he did hit Walker, Walker dropped it. They clearly have more team speed on defense than they had in the past, but I am looking for more than 24 points from the 49ers, probably more than 30.
