Alright, slightly click bait-y. My vertigo resolved through physical therapy.
But during the course of treatment one of several specialists I saw early on wanted to clean up the excess build up of wax in my outer ear canal. Seemed perfectly reasonable, been a good 12-15 years, knock yourself out.
He did such a thorough job, it’s been bothering me ever since. Like any time cerumen - the naturally occurring yellowish secretion that protects the skin of the ear canal - begins to start flowing (or whatever it does), it bugs the crap out of me. I’m constantly tugging at my ears or trying to gently clean with Q-tips. It’s freaking ridiculous. This has been going on for a good six months.
Anybody wise have an ongoing issue with ear wax making you uncomfortable like this?
It’s not really impacting my quality of life in any way. My ears are “popped” today, affecting my hearing somewhat. But the main thing is just this mild discomfort which leads me to constantly rub around the canal opening or tug at my ear in order to try to become comfortable again.
It is a bit hard to articulate but its this annoying thing that I’m conscious of daily.

In early 2008 I had an acute vestibular infection (aka severe inner ear infection.) It caused somewhat permanent vertigo bc it left behind crystal deposits - layman terns, I may technically incorrect - and I had “relearn” the balance function of my new normal. I cannot spin around - no more salsa or tango for me. Mostly it is fine. But last year in an exercise class, we did these extreme dips to the side, holding the position. Threw me off….took months of PT to get back to normally functioning balance.
Vertigo is no longer an issue for me but if you have questions I could share more details.
