For the purposes of this poll consider a unit of alcohol to be one beer/glass of wine/shot of 80 proof spirits.

Rough estimate:

  • 2 days at 30 units = 60
  • 10 days at 20 units = 200
  • 50 days at 10 units = 500
  • 100 days at 3-5 units = 300-500
  • 100 days at 1 units = 100
  • 103 days at 0 units = 0
Total Units: 1160-1360

I think I'm going to set a goal to break 2000 units this year.

ETA: Pretty sure I'm around 100 units since Championship Sunday so I'm on pace to smash that goal!

ETA2: Turkey 101 is my stock bourbon so should probably bump my totals up 20%.

Are you asking if I average around 3 drinks a day?
Perhaps I shouldn't be asking people to do much math in this thread.

Reason for the poll at 1000 units is that is what a study said was the average amount of alcohol consumed by male drinkers. Seemed high.

couple years back, that was probably 6 months for me. Maybe less time.

Now? About right, or maybe a bit high.

Let's see, I drink an alcoholic beverage at most on average about two times a week, and most of those times I would say 6 units. So what is that, 12 units a week x 52. 624 units plus an extra 50-100 or so for a few holiday festivities or the once in a while when a night out for a beer turns into a bakers dozen or more drinks.

Nope, under.

Short answer, no.

I believe in you. Calling them units does make it feel like a sales competition.

That 30 unit Sunday you probably had last week for the fantasy championships doesn't count for 2016 though.

Rough estimate:

  • 0 days at 30 units = 0
  • 0 days at 20 units = 0
  • 5 days at 10 units = 50
  • 120 days at 3-5 units = 300-500
  • 120 days at 2 units = 240
  • 120 days at 1 unit = 120
Total Units: 710-910 units estimateSo no, but close

In my absolute prime I may have hit 1000 units.

Now it's much closer to 300 to 400 units. Most of which are 1 or 2 drink days.

During college I was up to a handle of jack a week plus other drinks at parties or beers and such. Summers and breaks lowered the average, but 2000 would be on the low end those years.

Now, I still drink heavy some days but I don't drink nearly as frequently. And you're unlikely to get to 1000 without drinking atleast twice a week.

I drink 12-24 beers in a year, and usually three bottles of Tequila in July-August. No units in my mouth ever.

Easily. I probably drink between 4 and 10 beers a day. At least twice and month I'll have a 15 beer day/night.

I'm grateful that I never acquired the taste for beer. It would be a real struggle to stay thin consuming that many liquid calories.

You never have a day without a drink?

Well under 1000 units/yr at about 350-400.

I need to step my game up but as I am in my mid to late 50s I can't pound the beers as I did in my past.

Yep easily, but as stated in the other thread, they are all Coors Light. Heck, I drank 18 of them on New Years Eve :bag:

Takes at least that many units of Coors Light to catch a decent buzz.

Maybe one, but 2016 is a leap year.

How do you not die from a 30-unit day?
Practice!
I drank 27 beers on NYE and only stopped because we ran out of beer and everyone else went to bed. That was from about noon (had a couple working around the house) until 2, then I drove 3 hours to my in laws and had a case before turning in around 2:15.

18 plus beers two times a week, lets say 35 a week which is definately low.

35 x 52

1820

Add in vacations and casino trips, looking at 2k a year easy. Although I am getting too old and starting to slow down.

The rare 30 unit day is usually either:

1. An all day affair, like on vacation, start drinking at breakfast and continue until 3-4 am that night, works out to about 2 drinks per hour. The key here is to drink water all day long, usually a glass every other drink. The body processes the alcohol continuously so the level of inebriation never gets out of control and you stay hydrated.

2. At a party where there are chicks who insist on playing Kings Cup, beer pong, and taking shots every 30 minutes. These are the situations I am getting almost too old for. Adderall/Cocaine and/or throwing up are your friends on these nights.

I'm guessing you wipe your ### a few times a day even without pooping.

I've been this guy once but that was about 25lbs. ago; once the mid-day dizzy/sugar shakes became the norm - I quit.

If this something i deal with at least two times a day i would find this very funny.
