Ricky will have little trade value when he comes back next year so more than likely he'll be coming back to the Fins and once again splitting carries. This could go on for another 2-3 years

Anyone consider this when drafting or trading dynasty wise?

I believe the odds of Ricky Williams actually returning to the Miami Dolphins in 2007 and taking significant touches away from the (by then) established starting running back, Ronnie Brown are slim to none...

I would think it much more likely that he will provide depth off of the bench or more likely be traded for a 4th/5th round pick if they can find any takers.

I actually believe he was as good as gone this year if the Dolphins could find a buyer before his year-suspension hit.

It's Ronnie Brown's team. No doubt about it.

think the poll speaks for itself. 23 for keeping Brown, 0 for dropping him (probably would have been the same result if "Will Ricky ever play in the NFL again?")

Just how small do your rosters have to be to consider dropping a 2nd year RB who is the annointed starter on his team this year without any serious competition for his job or to steal carries?

That, or your bench players must all be top 10 guys at all of their positions or something.

Nick Saban: "I know I speak for all of his teammates and the entire Dolphin organization in supporting him in any way we can in his future endeavors.''

"Future endeavors" is terminology I'd use in regard to an employee I do not expect back. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I do think what they do with Ricky somewhat depends on how Ronnie Brown performs, but it would be very hard for me to seriously consider Ricky in any valuation of Brown at this point. Missing 2.5 of 3 "in his prime" seasons is a little much to overlook. I highly doubt anyone should expect RW to revert to his 2002 days, but who knows.

Perhaps, just perhaps, he meant "dropping" Brown as in "dropping" him down the rankings.

That would certainly make more sense. I guess the fact it is Friday has messed up my "He couldn't really be saying that, so he must have meant something else" filter.

I wouldn't see Ricky coming back to the Fins if it was a actual failed drug test but since it was a technicality, maybe. I don't think it's out the question for Ricky to come back and get 10 carries per game

Agent: Ricky Williams intends to return to DolphinsBY ARMANDO SALGUERO

asalguero@MiamiHerald.com

Ricky Williams is taking and passing all his tests in the NFL's drug testing program and intends to apply for re-admission to the league in April, his agent, Leigh Steinberg, said Thursday.

Steinberg also said Williams will play for whichever coach the Dolphins pick as a successor to Nick Saban.

''Ricky didn't have input when the team was hiring Nick Saban and he's confident the organization will make a good choice and he'll respect that choice,'' Steinberg said. ``And Ricky will play for that coach.''

Williams, who is serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, had a good relationship with Saban, who left Wednesday to become the coach at Alabama.

''They bonded, I mean really bonded,'' Steinberg said. ``In fact, it was two years ago at this time that Nick first called Ricky to begin rehabilitating the relationship, and Ricky really likes Nick a lot.

``Nonetheless, Ricky's contract is with the Miami Dolphins and he fully intends to apply for reinstatement in April and return to play for the Dolphins.''

Williams is living in northern California, according to Steinberg, and practicing yoga. The forearm Williams fractured while playing in the CFL is healed and will be ''just a memory'' by the time training camp begins in July, Steinberg said.

And as for the multiple drug tests Williams submits to even while he's on suspension?

''He's taking them presently and passing all the tests,'' Steinberg said.

Even though he's at Alabama, Saban still is a Williams fan and believes Williams' return can help Miami in 2007.

''God knows about No. 34, but if he comes back, you win three or four more games if the guy is playing, I'm telling you,'' Saban said. ``He's got a presence.''
