Do you guys like P!nk? (1 Viewer)

So my wife bought these P!nk albums, and I've been listening in the car with the kids- and they're actually... kind of catchy. Especially the newest one, The Truth About Love. And I've been humming these songs all day. She's pretty talented actually. Never really listened before.

I was just telling my wife the other day that she's really talented, and I think a lot more people (guys) would openly like her if she just used her real name instead of the stage name that sounds like an adolescent girl.

She has one heck of a voice. She also writes a lot of her own stuff IIRC. In general her music isn't my thing but I can respect her talent. And her apparent dislike for Kanye gets her some points as well.

This forum needs more music critics.
So what does this mean? You don't like her?
It means that there is a very low bar here for what is considered "good" music. I have no opinion of her as I never hear her music. The only song I know is that insipid "party all the time" ripoff or whatever it was, and that song sucked in just about every way a song can suck (predictable, vapid, pointless, regurgitated, unoriginal, etc). Her one song that I know is the musical equivalent of a McDonald's hamburger: mass-produced crap for people who don't really care what goes into their ears.

I don't know any of her songs. I guess I've probably heard them in a store or something.

Does she really spell it with a !

Think of how many fewer problems there'd be if everyone's opinions were as well thought out and as clearly researched for facts as this one.

So based on that one song, you've decided that anyone who likes her music has bad taste?

So I have to "fact-check" now in order to deliver an opinion, on an internet forum, before giving it to someone who asked for it? WTF? Since when are facts part of someone's opinion about music? Seriously what is your problem?

Anyone who likes that one song, IMO, has bad taste in music, yes. The other statement was in reference to many other posts I have seen lauding bands like Linkin Park, Evanescence, and a few others. Not exactly pitchfork around here.

Is she a heck of a singer...yep

But I do not listen to her

(I think her first album Missunderstood was mostly written by Linda Perry of 4-Non Blondes but I think Pink mostly writes her stuff now.)

Actually Missundaztood was her second album and there were several writers involved. Lots of guest performers as well. Can't Take Me Home was her first album.

If i was a David Koresh type and was in some kind of standoff, all they'd have to do was put her music on the loud speaker and I'd be out of the compound in seconds.

You mean you'd think she was performing live and would rush out for her autograph?

Not a fan. Has a great voice but her style, lyrics, and music are horrible. Raise Your Glass is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Your opinion was that people have no taste in music because of one song that you didn't even know the title to. It wasn't of the song itself.

 Sure, why let facts get in the way of a good opinion?

so you've heard one song and feel qualified to judge? I'm fairly certain you like some sh###y music too.

I never said people have no taste. I said, at first, that this place needs more music critics. Tim asked me to expand and so I said there is a low bar around here for music. I then expressed that the one song of hers I have heard is, IMO, complete garbage.

Really getting tired of people jumping all over people who express any strong opinion. I suppose I should have said that while her music doesn't suit me, it is certainly applicable to the tastes of others?

Not her best.

Who Knew is terrific.
I'll take back some of what I said. That song is OK. And I actually like Don't Let Me Get Me. Raise Your Glass is so bad it blinded me with hatred, and I still don't like her style at all. Something about it bugs me. Too masculine. Gwen Stefani is much better in that realm of style.
